We've created a frequently asked questions (FAQs) page on our website to hopefully help when someone has a question. It's a little thin right now as we are still building it. If you have any suggestions, you can email them to [email protected]. The FAQ page can be viewed here: https://www.augieslock.com/faqs.html

In the meantime, here are a couple entries for our FB fans!

Q: Regarding automotive transponder keys, I've heard that "locksmiths" can only "clone" car keys. Do you clone or actually program keys to vehicles?
A: For 99% of the programming jobs we do, we are actually programming a new key into your vehicle, just like a car dealer would with specialized programming equipment connected to your vehicle. A good automotive locksmith will have lots of options when it comes to programming car keys, and cloning a key is just one of those options. There are a few instances where it is in the customer's best interest to utilize a cloned key vs. a programmed key and, when those situations come up, we fully explain the differences, advantages, and disadvantages of choosing a cloned key vs a programmed key for the customer to make an informed decision and proceed however the customer chooses.

Q: My remote stopped working. Is there anyway to fix it instead of buying a new one?
A: Yes! We have successfully repaired non-working or damaged remotes for customers in the past, saving them lots of money over paying for a new one and programming. We stock a large inventory of repair parts for remotes in order to repair broken fobs. We have even fixed a few garage door remotes over the years. Unfortunately, not every remote can be fixed. In those instances, we can sell and program a replacement for you.

Announcements
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update:

First, we wish to thank all of our customers over the years for trusting in us to take care of their locksmith needs. As most other businesses in the area have been doing, we have been monitoring the rapidly changing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. As the number of confirmed cases continues to increase in Kansas, and because those cases are getting closer to us, we have decided to change how we are handling jobs going forward for the foreseeable future. Our goal is to minimize any face to face contact with customers and to prevent the spread of this quickly moving virus. To that end, here is a summary of the changes we have made:

We are suspending residential service work.
We feel it is best at this time, for both us and our customers, to limit contact especially in the location where we are supposed to go if we feel ill or are under quarantine. Information from various agencies has stated that someone can be contagious several days before even showing symptoms themselves.

We have restricted walk-in traffic at our business location. No public access is allowed at this time.
We have established a curbside service option where customers can pull up and wait for us to come outside to them (they can also call us and let us know they are outside). Customers can wait inside their vehicle and we will come to you.

For basic key copy jobs and similar, we will retrieve the key(s) from you along with your payment. While you wait in your vehicle, we will go inside, duplicate your keys as ordered, process your payment, and bring everything back out to you.

For vehicle keys and/or remotes that will require programming, the vehicle will need to be arranged for a drop off appointment. The keys can be placed in our secure drop off and the customer can then leave. The job will be completed and an invoice will be emailed to the customer. Upon payment, the keys will be left wherever the customer specifies, and they can pick the vehicle back up at their convenience.

All work will need to be scheduled with an appointment. This is so we can keep an eye out for you and also so we can control how many people are gathering at our location. Every effort is made to spread out appointments to prevent unnecessary interaction, allow for cleaning and disinfecting of tools and equipment between jobs, and to halt the spread of this virus.

Cleaners and disinfectants may be used by us before handling your keys, remotes, or vehicle in an effort to prevent transmission of the virus.

We are committed to doing our part to slow the spread of this virus while staying focused on our personal well being and that of our customers. Thank you for your support and understanding during these unprecedented times.
