Black, White & Gray Minimalist Bathrooms — It All Comes Down to Design and Craftsmanship

This Union City project includes three bathrooms designed in a clean black, white, and gray minimalist style.

White vanities and countertops keep the space bright and fresh, while black mirror frames, faucets, handles, and shower hardware create a clean, defined look. The gray textured wall design adds depth, and the glass sliding shower doors with black tracks help the space feel more open and airy.

The color palette is simple, but every detail is carefully coordinated, giving the bathrooms a clean and refined look.

For this project, the HB Kitchen and Bath design team focused on everyday functionality. The vanity areas provide enough countertop space for daily use, while the cabinet storage helps keep toiletries and cleaning items tucked away, making the countertops easier to keep clean.

Inside the shower areas, wall niches and built-in storage provide a dedicated place for small essentials, making the space more practical and convenient for daily routines.

From a construction perspective, the HB team paid close attention to the details you can see and use every day: the connection between the countertop and wall, the cabinet-to-floor finish, the spacing between drawer fronts and doors, the placement of hardware, and the consistency of the black design elements throughout the space.

The three bathroom vanities in this project feature Alice Cabinetry’s Blanco Glossy Flat Panel.

A bathroom does not have to be large to feel clean, functional, and timeless. With thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship, even everyday spaces can feel more organized, comfortable, and easy to use.

A good bathroom is not just about a new look — it is about getting the daily details right.

A Kitchen That Blends Into Everyday Living Is the One That Truly Works

This Redwood City kitchen project was designed and built by the HB Kitchen Bath team. The overall feeling is clean, bright, and warm at the same time.

The space is opened up through a soft combination of white and wood tones. White makes the kitchen feel brighter and more spacious, while the wood tone adds a natural warmth to the home.

What makes this space especially thoughtful is how naturally HB Kitchen Bath handled the relationship between the kitchen and the dining area.

The dining table, island, main cooking area, and extended countertop on the right side all share the same open space, but each area still has its own clear function. Meal prep, cooking, dining, and daily conversations can all happen here smoothly. The kitchen, dining room, and living room connect naturally, making the whole space feel more open and easier to use in everyday life.

From the construction and installation side, this project required careful attention to proportion and finishing details.

The refrigerator tall cabinet on the left, the appliance tall cabinet on the right, and the main kitchen area in the center create a complete visual frame. The tall cabinets help anchor both sides of the space, while the white cabinetry and stone-patterned backsplash in the middle create a clean, open feeling. The island is also designed with daily function in mind, serving as both a prep area and a casual dining spot.

The cabinets are Alice Cabinetry’s Pearl White and Wheat Oak Slim Shaker Full Access Cabinets. The slim panel lines make the overall look cleaner, lighter, and more refined. The materials are also GREENGUARD Gold Certified, making them a reliable choice for long-term use at home.

A good kitchen is not only about how it looks.
It is about bringing the warmth of everyday life back into the home.

Sophistication Is Hidden in a Restrained Color Palette

This kitchen was designed by HB Kitchen Bath, featuring cabinetry from Alice Cabinetry, which sets a clean, refined, and modern foundation for the entire space.

The overall palette is built around dark cabinetry, light wood tones, and white stone veining. Together, they create a kitchen that feels composed, balanced, and visually refined. The dark cabinets bring a calm and grounded tone, while the light wood softens the modern look. The stone countertop and backsplash gently elevate the overall sense of detail.

The island plays an important role in the space. Its light wood cabinet finish naturally connects with the wood flooring and stair treads, making the open layout feel more cohesive. Above the island, a sculptural pendant light adds a strong design detail, giving this area a clear visual focus.

Along the back wall, the cabinetry lines are kept clean and simple, with the main functions neatly integrated into the cabinet system. The result is a space that feels quiet, structured, and never flat.

The display storage area on the right is another highlight. The dark frame, wood shelving, glass cabinet doors, and integrated lighting create a more elevated display moment, adding both function and atmosphere to the kitchen.

The sophisticated feel of this kitchen does not come from over-designing. It comes from restraint.
When the colors are balanced, the lines are clean, and the materials and lighting are handled with care, the space naturally develops its own sense of character.

From layout flow and storage structure to material transitions and appliance integration, every detail was carefully considered.

The space features a clean, modern design language, combining an L-shaped layout with a central island to create openness and functionality. Cooking, storage, and social interaction are seamlessly connected. Large glass doors bring in natural light, creating a soft dialogue between the interior and outdoor surroundings.

This project features fully custom cabinetry by Crystal Cabinets , allowing for precise configurations and the integration of multiple hidden functions and refined details.

Great design is not only about the first impression—it’s about how it performs over time.

The simpler the bathroom, the more it comes down to details.

This space keeps the overall design minimal, without relying on bold features. Most of the work is done through materials and subtle details.

The vanity is finished in a soft matte gray, paired with wall and floor tiles in a similar muted texture. Everything sits in the same tone range, so the space feels consistent without any obvious breaks in material.

The tiles share the same base tone and veining direction, but the floor has a denser pattern. It naturally reads a bit deeper than the walls, creating a gentle top-to-bottom transition. Because the tones stay consistent, the space feels connected rather than segmented. Compared to a fully solid-color palette, this kind of subtle variation actually adds more depth.

Metal details play a big role here. Fixtures like the faucet, shower set, and tub are finished in a darker tone, which helps anchor the space and draw focus where it’s used most.

At the same time, softer metallic trims are used around niches, windows, and tile edges near the tub and vanity. They’re more about finishing and framing, keeping edges clean and quietly defining the lines of the space.

There isn’t a single standout feature in this bathroom. It’s really about how everything is controlled and brought together, materials, proportions, and detailing. When those are done right, the space feels calm, balanced, and easy to live with.

Bathroom ambiance is set long before styling—it starts with the hard finishes.
In this remodel, a slatted feature wall using Porcelanosa’s Nebraska series (Ice Nebraska Tea) matte wood-look tile becomes the visual focal point.
The warmth of the wood tone softens the cool stone backdrop, subtly raising the color temperature while enhancing the vertical feel of the space.
Echoing this, custom cabinetry by Eclipse Cabinetry carries the wood tone throughout the bathroom.
A double vanity paired with full-height wall cabinets maximizes storage and functionality, while aligning with the feature wall across the room—creating a clean, intentional line relationship.

Newark bathroom remodel, completed by our team.
For this project, we handled the construction and installation of the bathroom renovation in Newark, CA.
The vanity area features a floating vanity with motion-sensor lighting underneath, adding soft auxiliary light for nighttime use while keeping the space feeling lighter and cleaner.
The main walls were finished with large-format matte marble-look tiles. Compared with polished surfaces, matte tiles create a softer look with less glare, which works especially well in bathroom spaces where a calm and clean finish matters.
Installing large-format flat tiles also requires more precision during construction. Wall leveling and joint alignment need to be carefully controlled in advance so the stone pattern flows more naturally across the surface.
On the right side, vertical textured tiles were used to define the shower area. Against the larger flat tile surface, this detail adds depth to the space and creates a more intentional transition between the vanity and shower zones.

How do you improve a kitchen with poor natural light?
A lot of people assume a dark kitchen is caused by small windows.
But more often, it’s the layout that blocks the light.
In this home, the original kitchen felt crowded and heavy.
The walls, the three-sided tall cabinet layout, and the dropped ceiling all worked together to visually compress the space. Natural light could only stay near the window instead of spreading through the room.
For this remodel, the focus was not color.
It was the structure.
First, we opened up the kitchen to the living area.
Once the wall was removed and the sightline was extended, natural light was able to travel through the entire shared space.
Second, we removed the original three-sided cabinet layout.
By eliminating the upper bulkhead and reducing visual blockage around the window, we were able to release more vertical space and allow the window area to breathe again.
Third, we reworked the storage plan.
A new base cabinet was added below the window, integrating the previously projecting window area into a cleaner, flatter surface.
This not only added storage, but also made the elevation feel more streamlined and visually continuous.
For the materials, we chose a white marble countertop to reflect more light and help natural brightness spread more evenly throughout the space.
Once the structure was opened up, light was no longer confined to one corner.
It became part of the entire space.
The cabinetry was done in Eclipse Cabinetry.
Its light proportions and warm wood tone help natural light expand more easily through the space, instead of weighing it down.
The appliance system was also designed around integration.
The Trade-Wind built-in hood is concealed within the cabinetry structure, while the Thermador gas cooktop and Sub-Zero refrigerator are fully integrated into the design.
Even with high-end appliances, the space does not feel heavier.
Instead, the integrated approach creates a cleaner elevation and a more complete architectural look.
The visual volume is controlled, while the functionality remains fully intact.
Both the kitchen and bathrooms in this home were fully remodeled by HB Kitchen & Bath.
In the next post, we’ll share the bathroom transformation as well.

Midday sunlight became the best finishing touch in this kitchen.
Both photos were taken at noon — yet the light feels completely different.
Before the remodel, walls and tall cabinetry segmented the space.
The window was there, but the light stayed trapped in one corner. The kitchen felt compressed and dim.
The first move in this remodel was simple: open the kitchen to the living area.
Once the structure opened up, the light began to travel — not just touching the window wall, but flowing across the entire public space.
We rebalanced the cabinetry proportions to visually widen the room.
Lighter profiles and warm wood tones allow natural light to lead.
The homeowner told us her favorite change is the light.
Same noon sun — finally the atmosphere she had imagined.
Cabinetry by Eclipse Cabinetry keeps the lines refined and understated, letting the daylight define the mood.
A Trade-Wind built-in ventilation system is concealed within the cabinetry for a seamless elevation.
Thermador gas cooktop and Sub-Zero integrated refrigeration complete the clean, uninterrupted façade.
This kitchen isn’t just a visual centerpiece — it’s the functional core of daily life.
Upgraded layout and professional-grade appliances ensure it performs as well as it looks.
Kitchen and bathrooms in this project were fully remodeled by HB Kitchen & Bath.
Next, we’ll share the bathroom transformation.

From semi-open to fully open — how letting in the light changed everything. ☀️🏡

What first draws you into this kitchen? The light.

California sun is generous, but the original semi-open layout felt cramped and cut off the natural flow. After reimagining the space, this kitchen now breathes — open, airy, and flooded with daylight.

The cabinets? Alice Cabinetry’s Ever Oak in Classic Shaker. In this light, the natural wood tone softens instead of shouts — warm, stable, and endlessly easy on the eyes. The kind of finish that only gets better with time.

But the real shift? Structure.

We went with a full-wall cabinet layout — consolidating storage into one clean plane. No scattered boxes breaking up the space. Just seamless integration: refrigerator, drawer microwave, oven, cooktop, and hood — all lined up like they belong together. Functional, yes. Cluttered? Not a chance.

Countertops: MSI Calacatta Miraggio Cove · 2cm Polished. Durable, yes, but it’s the way the veining dances with the oak that makes it sing.

Cooking essentials:
🔥 Wolf cooktop + hood — high performance, zero compromise on air quality.
⚙️ KitchenAid drawer microwave + oven — streamlined, embedded, effortless.

And at the heart of it all:
Alice Cabinetry · Ever Oak Classic Shaker Framed Cabinets.
Designed for real cooking, real life, and kitchens that don’t quit.

📸 Bright, open, and made to last.
