One of the last public speeches John F. Kennedy ever gave was right here in Arkansas, and most people have no idea. 🇺🇸
On October 3, 1963, President Kennedy came to Heber Springs to dedicate the newly completed Greers Ferry Dam on the Little Red River. He spoke to a crowd of thousands, praised the project, and celebrated what it would mean for the region. Just 49 days later, he was assassinated in Dallas.
That Arkansas hillside crowd was among the last to see him speak in public before he was gone. Greers Ferry Lake exists today in part because of that dedication, and it is one of the most beautiful lakes in the state. So tell me: did you know JFK's last major public address was in Arkansas?
