The business was officially established in 1953

Family Roots: The company was founded during the post-war housing boom, a period of significant growth in the Shenango Valley. The name "Susi" refers to the founding family, well-known in the local construction and masonry trade during the mid-20th century.

Original Focus: In its early decades, the business focused heavily on traditional masonry supplies—blocks, bricks, cement, and basic construction materials required by local home builders and contractors.

Business Evolution
Over the decades, as construction trends shifted from basic block-and-brick structures to more decorative residential projects, Susi’s adapted its inventory.

Hardscapes & Design: We transitioned from being purely a "contractor's supply yard" to a destination for homeowners and designers. This involved stocking decorative pavers, retaining wall systems, and natural stone for patios and walkways.

Expansion: The company expanded its footprint beyond Hermitage, eventually adding a location in Erie, PA, to serve the northern market.

Product Diversification: WE have broadened our offerings to include "hearth products" (indoor and outdoor fireplaces, stoves, and inserts) and exterior features like seamless gutters and stone veneers.

Current Status
Today, Susi Builder’s Supply operates primarily as a specialty distributor. Unlike big-box stores, we focus on high-quality, specific brands of masonry and hardscape materials (such as Oberfield pavers and Eldorado Stone) and offer specialized delivery services for heavy masonry materials.

Ownership may have evolve over the years, but the heart of SUSI remains the same—dedicated to excellence, committed to community, proud of its past, and confidently looking toward a future filled with new and innovative opportunities.
