Bob's Beach Club Monitor the remodel of Bob's Beach Club, estimated completion: September, 2012 Why remodel? Short Answer: The stove broke. My house was originally built in 1929.

To replace the stove I would have to change the counter tops and the cabinets. If I am doing that, then I should really do a new kitchen. If I am doing a new kitchen, then I really need to do the adjoining dining room and bathroom, which is really doing a new first floor, which means new windows and doors on the front which leads to a new front and changes on the second floor which leads to ....



Pat Killen of Studio 9 one 2, the architect, had suggested just leveling the house and starting new. But I wanted to preserve the non conforming foot print and height. A major remodel was completed in 1984, and I bought it in 1988. After 27 years, everything needs updating. The promised completion date is September, 2012. I am living in my one bedroom condominium in Westwood, while this remodel takes place. I have set up this page so you can monitor the progress along with me. I can so relate. Change "write the software" to "remodel the house" and "three" to "six" and you have this project.

Boss: I'm getting wildly different estimates for how long it will take to write the software. Dilbert: Based on my experience, I say take the longest estimate and multiply it by three. Boss: Is experience exactly the same as pessimism? Dilbert: Experience is much worse.
