We see this more often than you would think on new construction projects.
A window or door looks great on the architectural plans, but once we start quoting the project and checking the actual impact-rated systems, we find that the configuration or size simply isn’t available as drawn.
That doesn’t mean the design has to be compromised. It means we need to catch it early, understand what the approved system allows, and work with the project team on an alternative that stays as close as possible to the architect’s intent.
This is one of the reasons we don’t just pull quantities from a window schedule and send a price. The plans have to be reviewed against what can actually be supplied and installed as an approved impact system in Florida.
