HIGH WINDS: The winds will be no joke tonight and tomorrow, especially across the mountains. These will be some of the strongest winds for the mountains since Hurricane Helene. Prepare for winds to pick up tonight through the early afternoon Wednesday across the mountains. Wind gusts of 50-65MPH are likely, with low gusts below 3,500FT and the highest 65+ possible above 3,500ft. High wind gusts are likely even outside of rain and storms, but any rain/stroms could bring down stronger wind gusts of 50/60MPH anywhere statewide, especially across Central and Eastern NC. I expect some scattered down trees and power outages to be likely, so don't be caught off guard. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects.
