Although the Glei family no longer owns the orchard, we care very deeply for the orchard and its future success. Owen is still overseeing the crop for the new owners so the same apples you love are still being grown. Please show some love to the new owners and go visit the store this fall. The store is a small start with mostly just apples and cider and will be in the former packing house (just north of the old store). Use the side drive and it will be to your right.
Please direct questions to Oliver’s Acres. This page will help promote them but unable to answer questions for them.

🍎✨ Harvest Season at Oliver’s Acres ✨🍎

We’re so excited to announce that starting September 17th, Oliver’s Acres will be open for Harvest Season! You can visit us Wednesday through Sunday, 10AM–6PM for fresh apples and cider.

This is a big step for our family, and honestly, a little scary, but it’s something we’ve dreamed about since U-Cut Trees went so well! We truly hope you’ll come out and support us. If the demand is there, we’re ready to add an extra day to our hours!

🍏 You’ll find all apple varieties as they come into season.
🍎 We’re bringing up our cider from Burnham Orchards, many of you tried it during last year’s U-Cut Christmas Trees and told us how much you loved it.
🥤 Glei’s has always had its special cider, but we’re confident you’ll fall in love with ours, too!

👉 Just a quick reminder: we’re card-only, same as U-Cut.

For those of you I haven’t met yet, my name is Alexis Burnham. I’m Joe Burnham’s daughter, and our farm is named after my great-great-grandpa Oliver. We’re a 7th-generation farming family, and this orchard is our way of carrying on that legacy while becoming part of the warm and welcoming Hillsdale community we’ve grown to love.

Oliver’s Acres is open today, tomorrow, and Sunday 10-5. Trees, apples, cider!

If you check the website, it says Gleis is permanently closed because Gleis is closed. The farm is sold. (See previous posts). Oliver’s Acres owns it now. We want them to be successful, we still love the farm and the apples.

Christmas Trees starting November 29th on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays !!!

We miss Christmas at Gleis too but we are happy to post this as a courtesy to the new owner Oliver’s Acres and wish them the best of luck.

Although the old store building does not belong to the new owners, they will be using a back building to offer some pre cut and cut your own trees this year. Please use the North drive (follow the signs). There will also be a a few various apples (Ambrosia, Jonathan, Fuji, Mutsu, Evercrisp and Golden Delicious ) available for purchase. They will also be bringing up some cider that is made at their other farm but made with a mix of apples from here and Ohio. We know you loved Gleis cider but we think you will also like this cider too.

New chapters look a little different but this is a start. Please come support the new owners and show there are still plenty of folks who love the Christmas trees, the apples, and a new version on the cider.

Change.....
Change is a fact of life. It is often necessary; sometimes sad, sometimes happy. Change has happened at the farm and although we have loved growing apples for over 100 years and serving this community, change was necessary but we hope for a continued long future ahead for the orchard. Growing apples has been an labor of love for the Glei family since 1918.

In December 2023, all the orchards, buildings (minus the main store/ greenhouses) and packing house were purchased by another grower and will remain an orchard which makes us happy. The new name of this orchard is Oliver's Acres Orchard. If you happen to find apples that say Oliver's, that's from this farm. The new owner and his family have an even longer family history of growing apples than the Glei family, with a successful farm in Ohio. Good people continuing to grow great apples.

Owen, along with the dedicated help of Kevin C. have overseen the crop this year for the new owner. The hard workers, that come to help harvest the crop, are here bringing in another crop of delicious apples. We appreciate Kevin and that crew immensely.

Locally, you can purchase apples at Carpenter's in Allen right on US 12. Although not technically "Glei's" apples, they are the apples you know and love. We are grateful for this local outlet and we encourage you to stop there. (No, there will not be cider from this farm) The crop, as it did last year, will mostly go to Ohio but who knows what the future holds for potential here. That is not up to us but you can certainly show that you still love the apples here by stopping in to buy them at Carpenter's.

As a family, please know that we are incredibly grateful for the wonderful, loyal customers through the years. We've enjoyed serving you and getting to know you and your families as you stopped in. We miss seeing you too.

To our dedicated employees through all the years....thanks will never say enough about your part in the success of the store. So many employees gave YEARS of their lives to our family and for our customers. We would hate to name names and forget anyone so just know that you have meant the world to us, with so many thought of as extended members of our family. The words "thank you" do not adequately express our appreciation to you all.

As in any great story, there may be some "pages" that are more difficult and that don't need to be revisited. That's not where the joy is so it's not worth "rereading" or repeating. We wish everyone in our story nothing but joy...we've had a lot of joy in those many years. Please join us in remembering the positive things in those many years, as we will continue to hold all of you so positively in our own hearts. It has been a great honor to serve you through the years.

We wish nothing but the BEST to Oliver's Acres and look forward to good things ahead for them as well as all of you. Thank you.
