Hey friends! Happy June - We want to wish everyone a safe and fun summer. Even though it is June, keep in mind hurricane season is just a few months away. We highly recommend calling sooner rather than later for preventative work on any and all trees at your home. We would be happy to send a member of our team out to inspect your property.

πŸŒ€It's time to be proactive before we hit the busy part of Hurricane season! Take a walk around your property and see if you have any trees that need to be evaluated! If you think they may not withstand strong winds or have questionable limbs that you do not want falling, Ocean Woods Landscaping recommends contacting Jones Brothers Tree Surgeons! We trust them to do great work, on time, and at a fair price.

Catch It Before It Catches You!

You are looking at scale, a pesky insect found all around your landscaping in trees, shrubs, grass and plants; most commonly found on Magnolias. Without early detection and treatment, it can spread, deteriorate and stunt the growth of your beautiful landscaping.

If you notice this and would like to see more blooming on your Magnolias, call our office and set up an appointment with one of our licensed arborists: 843-842-4686.

We provide tree service with removals, trimming and plant health care.

CATCH IT BEFORE IT CATCHES YOU..

What are you looking at, you may ask? It is known as Black Twig Borer. Borers are chewing insects that chew and feed on the inner bark. It is the Black insect located in the middle of the photo.

How to Get Rid of Black Twig Borer? The best way to manage this issue would be to contact a plant health care specialist and/or arborist that is licensed to diagnose the issue with your trees or shrubs. Once properly diagnosed, we are able to move forward with treating your beautiful landscape and preventing future pests with our plant health care program.

We have ISA Certified Arborists on our staff who will be able to help with diagnosing your issue.
Photo creds to Dylan Bakels who shot this while out in the field.

The Bradford Pear Bounty program is back this fall! Bradford pears are not native to the U.S. and directly contribute to one of the worst invasive plant species in the Southeast – the callery pear. This program will give homeowners the option to remove Bradford pears from their property (property owner is responsible for removal) and replace them with FREE native trees. The first exchange event will be held at Manning High School in Manning Dec. 9 from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Pre-registration is required.

Property owners are responsible for removal of the trees; IMPORTANT NOTE: The Forestry Commission does not remove trees for property owners. For more information on how the exchange works and a list of replacement trees, please visit Clemson Extension's website for the Bradford Pear Bounty program at https://www.clemson.edu/extension/bradford-pear/index.html
