✨ What's the oldest piece of furniture in your home?
With all the rain we've had lately, there have been a few quiet moments in the showroom between customers. Those slower days usually lead to some of our favorite conversations.
One of our team members was telling us about the oldest piece of furniture she's kept through every move.
It's her grandmother's dining room table, purchased in San Francisco around 1936. It originally came with four chairs and two sideboards. Over the years she added two armchairs for the ends, but through every house and every chapter of life, that table stayed.
It got us talking about something we see all the time here in the Lowcountry.
People move to Bluffton or Hilton Head planning to create a whole new look. They decide their furniture isn't quite "coastal enough." 😄
But there's usually one piece that survives the makeover.
The table where holiday meals were served.
The rocking chair from Grandma's porch.
The cedar chest that's been in the family for generations.
No matter how much a home changes, some pieces carry too many memories to let go.
And what makes it the one thing you could never part with?
We'd love to hear the story behind it.
