Sapper’s Market & Greenhouses
Announcement
With the change of each season, Sapper’s Market & Greenhouses has been a staple in our community, highlighting significant moments in our lives. Whether you looked forward to growing beautiful spring flowers in your garden, enjoying mums in the crisp fall air, or feeling the excitement of decorating your Christmas tree in the winter, Sapper’s has been there to help create those personal memories.
Like the main setting of a Hallmark movie, Sapper’s Market & Greenhouses is the quintessential family-owned, small-town store.
Currently, Janet (Sapper) Kraynik and her husband, Mike, are the face of Sapper’s. Their love story began at Sapper’s when they were just teenagers, and it grew—just like the flowers in the greenhouses. Their two children, Jonathon and Jessica, along with their six grandchildren, grew up playing at Sapper’s. It was more than a business built by their grandparents; it was a part of who they are and who they will always be.
Besides Janet and Mike, there are generations of extended family members and friends who have poured their hearts into this community staple. Without them, Sapper’s would not be the success it has become today.
Historically, in 1906, Charles and Minnie Sapper purchased the land on which Sapper’s was built. Their son, John Sapper—Janet’s grandfather—started the open-air market on the family land. In 1976, John Jr. Sapper and his wife, Fran, built the store that Janet and Mike currently own and operate.
As the saying goes, “all good things must come to an end,” and with that, we are announcing the end of an era. Sapper’s Market & Greenhouses will be closing, but the land this store and farm were built on will be redeveloped for new families.
We are deeply grateful for our customers throughout the decades, and it has been an honor to be a small part of your lives through every season. We hope and pray that the families who will one day live on this land create beautiful memories of their own—that their love will flow through their homes like the wind that once flowed through the corn and pumpkin fields.
Sincerely,
The Entire Sapper Family
