Big Timber Garden; Big Timber, MT
Montana’s famously expansive and dynamic skies suggested a design for this vacation home that is about large yet subtle gestures. Stone monoliths, laid together in an informal-yet-contemporary way, create a terrace seating area next to the house designed by Hughes Umbanhowar architects.
The seemingly preexistent plant compositions mask the hand of the designer and encourage habitat creation for local fauna.
