The Korean spice viburnum (Viburnum carlesii) is a desirable shrub because of its fragrant white blooms and reddish-purple berries. The blooms have a sweet, spicy scent that is especially strong in the evening. The berries are a favorite food of birds and provide a splash of color to the garden. It is a low-maintenance shrub that can be kept to a manageable size with regular pruning. It is also a great choice for hedges and privacy screens.
