Some people would've been super upset when they discovered their business was put of water on the night of their birthday....but to me, with being a well driller's daughter, I thought it made this birthday even more special. It was great watching my family use Daddy's Newton's Well Drilling equipment to pull my submersible pump. I couldn't have thought of a better way to end my birthday night, because it kinda made me feel like it was Daddy's way of saying Happy Birthday to me from heaven. ❤

Also, a special thanks to Luke from Tidewater Drilling & Pump Service. Luke, the owner of Tidewater, was always great about lending Daddy a hand when he needed it.

In 1972, at the age of 30, Craig started Newton's Well Drilling, not knowing a thing about drilling water wells! 😁 He purchased a used yellow 1955 Speedstar cable tool well rig that was mounted on a green 1959 Chevy. This well rig was purchased from a local Citrus County well driller by the name of John Hopkins, who was retiring and moving to Georgia. Mr. Hopkins trained Craig for a few months, and then a driller named, Dan Barton, worked alongside Craig, until he was able to obtain his driller's certification. Then, within only 7 years, in 1978, Craig upgraded to a 1968 Cyclone TH-40 red and white Rotary Well Rig that he ontained in Cordele, GA. This is a pic of this new rotary rig on the day it arrived at Newton's Well Drilling. This is the rig that Craig used daily to drill wells all over Citrus County from 1978 to 2022.
