Life is about inspiring others and making the world a little better.

I wanted to post this because maybe one day these kids will grow up, have a phone, and come across this video. I hope that one day we meet again, and I get to see how much their lives have changed.

I’m just a girl from a small village in Central Vietnam, a region known for poverty and natural disasters. My parents worked incredibly hard to give us a better life than many families around us. Even so, I always felt there was a bigger world waiting beyond our village.

When I was little, my mom would take me to Vinh City whenever I received an award at school. It was her way of celebrating and showing how proud she was. To me, Vinh felt huge, modern, and full of opportunities. It inspired me to dream bigger.

At 14, I passed the entrance exam to attend a gifted high school in Vinh, even though it meant leaving home and living on my own at such a young age.

Later, I had the chance to visit Hanoi. I experienced new places, amazing food, and a completely different world. That trip motivated me to aim higher. I wanted to study in Hanoi, and not just at any university. I worked hard to get into one of the top business schools in Vietnam because I understood how important education could be in changing a person’s future.

That decision opened doors to incredible friendships, opportunities, and experiences that still impact my life today. Because of education and the opportunities that came with it, I’ve been able to build a successful life and help many people along the way.

I shared my story with these kids because I want them to know that where they start does not determine where they can go. I hope they chase education, explore the world beyond their village, build better lives for themselves, and one day return to help the communities they came from.

I’m grateful for the life I have today. It came from hard work, but also from the kindness of many people who guided, supported, and believed in me along the way.

So whenever I can, I try to pass that kindness forward.

This trip honestly felt like a SLAB to my face.

I came to Vietnam thinking I needed ā€œhealing,ā€ meanwhile there are people here fighting every day just to survive… praying they have enough rice for tomorrow.

Yesterday in Ta Van Village near Sapa, I met two Hmong women, Di and Ly. Di invited me to see her home near the rice fields.

The walk there was difficult… but seeing the house honestly broke my heart.

In that moment, I felt guilty thinking about all the things I complain about in life while some families are carrying debt just trying to build a tiny shelter to sleep in.

I gave Di all the cash I had, but it still didn’t feel enough. She didn’t even have a bank account, so I asked her to borrow a family member’s account because I couldn’t walk away knowing they were struggling that badly. I helped pay off the debt on their house and gave them enough for 6 months of expenses… but my heart still felt heavy leaving.

Then there was Ly.

She is 70 years old and still walks over an hour through dangerous mountain paths every day to sell handmade items to tourists. Her husband is sick, and she works just to buy his medicine.

When I gave her money to cover the medicine expenses, she told me she had never held that much money in her hands before in her entire life.

That sentence shattered me.

If you ever visit Sapa, please visit Ta Van Village.

Your $10 could be a family’s meal.
Small kindness can truly change someone’s life.

So many families here are not living…
they are simply surviving.

On the journey of finding yourself, there are happy days, okay days, and really hard days.
On my down days, I feel lucky to be surrounded by amazing friends and good food.
The rain was pouring as heavily as my mood, and the weather definitely didn’t help but the people did. šŸ¤
I chose to come back to Vietnam for little, to be surrounded by my people, my comfort, and the kind of love that quietly helps me find myself again.

Honored to be invited to the Tuxes & Tails Gala, a beautiful night that raised over a million dollars for the Hawaiian Humane Society šŸ¤

As someone who has been doing charity work for many years, moments like this give me even more motivation to keep giving, keep helping, and do more for others.

Most people walk through a house and only see the finishes…

I walk through a house and think:
ā€œHow can this make income?ā€ šŸ˜…

At 337 Wanaao, this space can easily become a private studio with its own entrance and gate, giving real separation and flexibility.

Rental income potential? Around $3,000/month.

But honestly…
it doesn’t even have to be for rent.

It could be the perfect setup for family, guests, or kids who want their own privacy without leaving home completely.

That’s my favorite kind of design, spaces that feel good and work smart.
