I sit here tonight with a heavy saddened heart. I drove by the property for my childhood home once stood. And All That remains is rubble. The house that was home to so many people, has been reduced to nothing but old lumber thrown away. The only real home I ever knew in my life until I became an adult and had my own home. So many wonderful memories in that home. I was just a little boy when my grandfather died in 1984. So the memories of him and I at that house are very few. But the memories ever made with my grandmother are so numerous I couldn't count them if I tried. And it broke my heart to know that I would never step foot through that door again or to walk down that hallway again because they no longer exist anywhere other than in my heart and mind. So I went and I visited my grandmother I had a long conversation with her. And I had to laugh. Because I can hear my grandmother saying to me, Leslie Brian, I raised you better than that. And I had to ask her what she meant. So she proceeded to tell me, that house was nothing more than would and nails. It was only a home because of the love that was shared and the memories that were made. And nobody can knock those memories down and throw them in a dumpster. And it brought tears to my eyes once again. Because I knew once again, that my grandmother was right. I love you Grandmomma. I miss you so much. And I try everyday to make you proud of me. And you used to be my favorite person in this world. But now you're my favorite angel in heaven.
