Press Release for Grayhouse Partners Housatonic Elementary School Project (HESP) July 30,2019

HOUSATONIC — As a longtime resident and member of the community, Grayhouse Partners and Bill Nappo were looking to develop the Housatonic School for economic development and create opportunities for potential growth in the southern Berkshires. Grayhouse Partners was hoping to develop and repurpose the Housatonic School into a collaborative workspace for entrepreneurs as an incubator space to jumpstart Housatonic’s economy.

Consistent with the Town of Great Barrington’s master plan the Housatonic School was never intended to be repurposed into housing, but rather for economic growth and opportunity. Grayhouse Partners was looking forward to working with the Town of Great Barrington on this upcoming project. Grayhouse Partners secured funding from the Community Preservation Act and was awarded funding from Town Meeting, as well. Grayhouse was looking forward to securing more funding to assist and finance the Housatonic School project.

However, the recent news of Grayhouse Partners being asked to bow out of the Housatonic School development was disappointing, but Grayhouse is excited to turns its attention to many new projects this year.

Grayhouse Partners would like to extend its many thanks to the many public officials who supported the Housatonic School project, such as former Great Barrington Town Manager, Jennifer Tabakin, State Senator Adam Hinds, and Representative William “Smitty” Pignatelli.
