We are not fans of transitions between rooms caused by inconsistent floor elevations. That’s why, when we begin a new renovation project, we prefer whole-house leveling rather than the standard room-by-room approach.
A full-house leveling process requires extensive preparation, precise ex*****on, and a deep understanding of hydrostatic leveling principles, elevation calculations, and the application of specialized leveling materials.
In our incredible project with designer Tiffany White for a very special professional athlete, we leveled the entire existing foundation 16 months before flooring installation and prior to framing the walls, instead of following the common sequence of framing first and correcting elevations later on an existing shell structure (this part is important)
This process required an additional layer of planning and precision. We digitally superimposed elevation data onto a Matterport floor plan map and strategically injected leveling materials only into the exact areas that required correction, rather than relying on a generalized self-leveling compound application throughout the home.
The result was exceptionally precise: true 90-degree walls, consistent elevations across the entire home, and identical wall heights in every room. That level of precision allowed baseboards, doors, and flooring to align perfectly throughout the project — creating the clean, balanced feel typically associated with concrete construction, but implemented within a stick-frame home.
Exactly the level of detail this elite athlete deserved. Easy on the feet, and easy on the eyes.
