Today let's talk about chimneys... a classic weak point of many roofs....

If the flashing on your chimney is not up to standards, then you are very likely to have a leak that can cause significant damage to the interior of your home and result in a costly repair.

Luckily, on the job that we have in these pictures, the homeowner wisely contacted us before any major damage was done.

He discovered a small leak in a couple places and correctly diagnosed them as a result of the chimney. After having a few contractors put numbers to it and try to diagnose the issue, he called Republic Roof Systems LLC Residential & Commercial Roofing Houston

We confirmed his diagnosis, tore off all old and compromised flashing, tore off the surrounding shingles, added ice and water and new valley metal, and then replaced the flashing THE RIGHT WAY. In one day we saved him thousands of dollars that could have resulted from this rain that came in last night!

It was a long day of work, but we are very happy to say our homeowner should not experience any more leaks and caught this before any significant interior damage occurred!

Republic Roof Systems is working on a historical house right now that the owner is converting into a law firm in the Heights!

We wanted to talk a little about what you need to know if you are thinking about getting your roof repaired or replaced and it looks like this.

Now there are profiles from other manufactures that look similar, but if you see this type of age it is safe to assume YOU ARE DEALING WITH ASBESTOS!

Have no fear though... With the proper removal techniques the dangerous and cancerous particles will not go airborne.

We used a removal crew that specializes in hazardous waste. They dawned their hazmat suits with respirators to make sure their lungs were safe when working in such close proximity to asbestos.

The crew was constantly coating the roof area with a film of water to ensure hazardous particles did not go airborne.

Right when removed from the roof area, the hazardous material was immediately bagged. It is tedious work, but keeping the crew and the surrounding homeowners and bystanders safe is ALWAYS the priority.

Once material is torn off, and placed in the plastic lined dumpster in bags, the material is hauled to a dump that can handle this type of material and buried immediately so there is no further risk.
