Hutto Texas is the “Home of the Hippo”.
But why, you ask?
It’s due to a 1915 local legend where a hippopotamus escaped from a traveling circus train, stopping traffic and becoming stuck in Cottonwood Creek.
Next time you visit Hutto, you cannot miss the numerous concrete hippo statues everywhere!
