Even older panels can support a new EV charger, as long as their components are in good health and the service itself is large enough to handle the load. The best places to install your new charger and keep the costs down are directly under or in the stud bay next to the panel, but we can install them almost anywhere you like, and we install them fully up to code and compliant with all applicable local and national standards.

Let's be honest: installing a 50A receptacle is not the best way to add an EV charger to your home. That being said, there are times where installing a hard-wired charger is not an option. In those cases we choose to go above-and-beyond to ensure the highest level of function and safety possible, including using metallic junction boxes, properly-rated connectors and strain relief on cables, and heavy-duty receptacles rated for the prolonged loads charging an electric vehicle creates. Because even if it isn't optimal, we want to make sure your equipment lasts as long as possible, and is as safe as possible.

When your panel isn't in the garage, or even on the same side of the house, it takes a little extra work to get a new circuit to your new EV charger. On this job, we installed nonmetallic conduit through the ceiling from the panel to the garage, and it involved opening some sections of the ceiling to do so. We do our best to make as few of those cuts as possible, and make them as neatly as possible, to minimize your expense when it comes to restoring your drywall.
