Primary Bathroom Plans

We have lived in our home twelve years now and I have not truly ever loved our bathroom. The size of the room is great and I love that we each have our own sink and vanity space. But, that's where it ends for me. In a perfect world I would have the entire space redone; new vanities, new tub layout, etc....

Check out how I'm planning to update our builder grade dated and tired primary bathroom without spending tons of money on a renovation.

The Best Armchair

When I purchase a piece of furniture I do so with the plan of keeping it several years. I don't want trendy because I'll end up being over it once the moment has passed. I hate wasting money. It needs to be a classic. That is the case for the English roll arm chairs in our living room. I originally purchased these chairs in 2015....

I love this style of chair so much I have purchased the exact same ones twice in ten years! I think you'll agree this is the best armchair.

This pleated fabric lamp shade is a craft I have wanted to do in my daughter’s room for a couple of years now. I finally got around to it!

I was inspired by a lamp shade that was over $100 and ended up only spending $10 to make it happen 🙌

What you need:

• Lampshade
• Fabric - I used just under 1 yard of 42” wide fabric for my 10” tall lampshade
• Scissors
• Hot glue
• Iron
• Clothespins - Not necessary, but helpful

How I did it:

• Cut fabric 1 inch longer than height of shade
• Start at back seam of lamp shade and lay fabric along seam
• Hot glue fabric to shade along top and bottom rim
• Create first pleat by hand and hot glue into place along top and bottom rim, repeating until shade is covered
• Run bead of hot glue along both the top and bottom inner rim of the shade, wrapping excess fabric into place. Best to do this is 3 inch sections.
• Cut finishing trim for top and bottom rims of the shade. You can make this as thin or thick as you like. Mine was about 2.5” wide.
• Fold trim fabric in half long ways and iron. Then fold edges in toward the ironed crease and iron again. Fold in half again along original iron seam and press once more.
• Hot glue trim fabric along outside edge of shade first, go all around the circumference of the shade.
• Fold over other half of trim fabric to the inside and hot glue in place. You can use clothespins to help secure the fabric in place while it dries.
