Home Gardening Basics We are retired veterans/gardeners, in zone 7a, excited to share our gardening experiences with you.

I started gardening a few years ago and found it fun and rewarding in growing my own vegetables. I'm continuously learning and enjoying every moment of it and decided to share some of my experiences in hopes to inspire others to do the same.

Best vegetable pairs to grow in grow-bags.

Grow bags can be so productive when you pair plants with similar needs and growth habits. πŸ₯•πŸ… What usually works best:
🌿 shallow-rooted herbs with bigger fruiting plants
πŸ₯• quick crops tucked beside slower growers
β˜€οΈ plants that like the same watering and sun conditions
Just do not overcrowd them. Even a great pairing can struggle if the bag is packed too tight. A little breathing room makes a big difference.

Wish I can grow these in my own backyard! 😞

I love dahlias, wondering how easy are they to grow and maintain? Is best to grow in pots or in the ground?

DIY Eco-Friendly Vegetable Garden
Cutting old containers into pots and reusing plastic bottles as drip irrigation systems is a clever, low-cost, and sustainable way to grow your own vegetables.
This method is especially useful for small spaces, such as balconies or compact gardens, and helps conserve water at the same time.
By giving new life to everyday materials, you not only reduce waste but also create a productive and eco-conscious garden that thrives with minimal resources.
