Instead of brushing it off, Shaq took action. He ended his Reebok deal and partnered with Walmart to create an affordable line of sneakers under the Shaq brand. They retailed for as little as $12–$30. Critics mocked him for “cheapening” his name and said he’d ruin his brand, but he didn’t care. His goal was to make good-quality footwear accessible to everyone.

Over the years, he has sold over 200 million pairs, proving that there is massive demand for affordable, decent shoes. Shaq’s story is a reminder that success doesn’t have to be about luxury or status—it can be about impact and doing the right thing for ordinary families.

He once said: “Kids don’t care if their shoes cost $500 or $20. They just want to play.” And thanks to him, millions of kids have had that chance.
