I have to tell you Sunny Homes gained some national exposure this weekend with the airing of "A Christmas Winter Song" on the Lifetime channel. If you live in the Brighton, MI area then you might have known that they filmed almost this entire movie in and around the Brighton area. There are several shots of downtown Brighton and the shop that was used as a primary scene is in Brighton.
Here's where Sunny Homes fits in!
The interior scenes of the home that the young couple (Ashanti and her husband) live in was right across the street from a house that we were just finishing working on. Somehow the folks that own that home knew someone and that, along with the fact that the interior was beautiful, led to that home being used for those interior scenes.
Now both that home and the one we were working on are located in a lake community just minutes South of Brighton. They are on a peninsula so both homes are waterfront. The home we were working on was originally 2 single story cottages built in the 40's or 50's that had been cobbled together to make one. In 95' or so a second floor was added to part of it.
We added an additional 2nd floor to make it a full 2 story home and completely renovated the rest of the house.
When the production crew was filming, they though that the house had such charming appeal that they asked the owners, my clients, if it could be used in the movie! They, of course, said yes! There is a short scene around the 25 minute mark where Fred, the down and out homeless jazz singer, walks past his estranged daughters house and sees her and her 2 kids through the window. That blue and white house is the one we built! Pretty cool! Coincidentally, the family that lives there, a wonderful family I might add, have 5 children between the ages of 6 and 15 so Santa is very important! Last year, when we were starting the siding, my client took a picture so that he could show his kids that while they were at school, Santa (one of the siding installers) was working on their home! I attached that picture, keep and eye out for him! I also included a picture of the fake snow as they started to put it down and a few other pics. Funny how a little more than a year later that home is in a Christmas movie!

Can't believe it's been 10 months since I posted anything new!
Needless to say we have been and continue to be very busy! We've moved several families in to their new, custom homes since then.
Attached are a few pictures of the most recent! An almost 2300 sq. ft. ranch, walkout basement and 3 car garage that was built for under $175/sq. ft., lot not included.

Business remains strong thanks to referrals from friends, family, past clients, professional realtionships,etc.
Sunny Homes does zero advertising (except for this page so I can share pictures of beautiful homes created by the clients excellent choices and excellent craftsmen/women that perform the work, I just drive around and make phone calls LOL).
These pictures are from one of Sunny Homes long time suppliers salesman's parents home. This salesman could have asked any number of builders he works with to build his parents new home but, he recommended me, so honored! They are moving in today and are very happy with their new home and the process to build it. Enjoy the memories!

In between periods of the Stanley Cup Finals.....thought I'd add this beautiful "starter home" we built that I thought I had posted pics of. It's about a 2300 sq ft 1-1/2 story. 1st floor Master, Office, open Kitchen/Nook/Great Rm, Laundry and a separate Mud Room off Garage (2-1/2 car). 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms, open loft with small reading/computer niche area and a 3rd psuedo bedroom (no closet to keep septic field smaller as a 3 bedroom home). Walkout basement. Not including the lot this home can be built for about 275k!

So it's been a while since I've had any time to update this page - always good to be busy! As most know, all of my work ...

So it's been a while since I've had any time to update this page - always good to be busy! As most know, all of my work is through referral, no signs, no advertising (except this page, which is a good way to show pics of what Sunny Homes has done), just word of mouth. We (myself, Jeff and our team of subs and suppliers) work very hard to create a custom home for each client, no matter how big, small, complex, simple, etc. It's their home and our only goals are for them to enjoy the experience and to enjoy living in their very own, one-of-a-kind dream home!
