HD Sod, Inc. Your friendly Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin SOD supplier since 1979 Debi helped while raising two children and working up a clientele to keep them busy.

Getting married to wife Debi in 1981 and buying 10 acres to work with, Harley was able to do what he loves: raising and growing sod. All these years later they still work many hours during the summer months to continue to build their business now with the help of their daughter Shannon, son Harley Jr III (Jay) and grandson Justin. Today owning 155 acres to grow the GREEN, HD Sod provides their community and trusted landscapers with high quality sod for the best lawns.

🌧️ Rain Day at HD Sod Farm 🌧️

Mother Nature had other plans for us last night and dropped about 1.5 inches of rain on the Hugo farm! That means we will not be cutting sod today or be loading any black dirt.

The good news? We're hopeful that field conditions will be good enough to resume cutting tomorrow.

We are in the process of transferring our long-time business phone number to a new system that will help us serve our customers even better.

will remain our main number and should continue to work as usual during the transition. This number is NOT going away!

However, during the porting process there is a slight chance that calls may not come through for a short period of time.

This temporary number will ring directly to Shannon so we can continue helping you with sod and black dirt orders.

Highlights: Grandpa winning the heat race 🔥and Finley Spicer Racing driving on the track.

Overall: Car was way too tight all night. In the heat race it was pushing bad, and even after adjustments to loosen it up, it still stayed tight. Had all rear brake in and every time I got on the gas it wanted to push up the track. Just not the night for me and the car.

Today we’re celebrating the incredible women of HD Sod.

From mothers to daughters to daughters-in-law, these women help keep both our family and our farm growing strong.

Spring hits hard around here and we’re giving 110% every single day to keep up with cutting, loading, deliveries, calls, estimates, equipment breakdowns, and everything in between. (The guys deserve a vacation already - believe me!)

It actually celebrates Mexico’s victory at the Battle of Puebla,
a moment of resilience, grit, and pulling off a win when the odds were stacked.

Yeah—no. Not happening. Not even a little bit. 🙃
HD Sod is NOT closing.

We’re here, we’re cutting, and we’re gearing up for a busy season ahead.

We’re not sure where the rumor started, but we’d really appreciate help putting it to rest. Small businesses run on community, and stuff like this spreads fast.

So if you hear it?
Feel free to kindly say: “Nope, they’re still very much open.”

And if you’ve been thinking about getting your yard, landscaping, or garden dialed in… this is your sign 🌱
