So, though summer is winding down, don’t give up on the idea of rejuvenating your house with a fresh coat of paint.

Flexibility: Depending on the time of year, it can be difficult to schedule painters to come out to your home and paint. Many companies enter a slow period when fall rolls around, which means they are more flexible and can accommodate your scheduling needs easier than they would be able to during their busy season. Another bonus is that you’ll have more time to carefully choose your colors, because you won’t have to rush to get the house painted due to your painting service’s schedule.

Smaller chance of rain: There are many people who enjoy the rain—but not when they are planning to paint their home. It can rain at any time during the year, but in fall, it doesn’t rain as often as some of the other seasons. Moisture makes it difficult for the paint to dry and bond, so when you have your house painted in the fall, the job is less likely to be delayed and the paint will dry in a timely manner.

Less humidity: Whether you are painting the interior or exterior of your house, it is important that the paint dries properly and bonds to the surface being painted. Humidity can cause a similar issue as rain because, during the summer, the moisture it creates is a problem that presents itself often. As the season changes from summer to fall, humidity will change and the paint will dry properly. With the paint drying and bonding properly, you won’t have to be worried about the paint not lasting as long as expected.

Cool temperatures: One thing that people love about the fall is how much cooler it is than in the summer. This cooler weather is another reason people should paint their homes in the fall. Of course, the cool air will allow the painters to get the job done with ease because the sun won’t be beating down on them, but it will also allow the paint to dry properly. This type of weather is also helpful if you are getting the interior of your home painted, because you will need the crisp air to remove the smell of paint from your home.

In the world of renovation, there always seems to be a shortage of time – trying to fit several trades into the same timeframe of a project, delays in material sourcing and scheduling, and simply pressure to get things done and return to normal living. But there is no question that rushing has a toll on the end product, and this is certainly true in house painting.

Recent years have seem the rise of painting companies that seem to put speed ahead of quality. Notably, the painting firm that boast of being able to do most painting jobs in just 1 day (you can probably guess their name). But there are many reasons that make this emphasis on speed a bad idea.

The products that painters use all take time to dry. This includes patching compounds as well as primers and paints. If you have a project requiring preparation, then there can sometimes be 4 or more steps involved in finishing a surface – with each step requiring time to set properly. In order to get a professional finish, several days may be necessary. This is especially true in the case of significant wall repair. The painters that try to rush the job are often overlooking steps, or just speeding through them as the expense of the finished product.

Another important aspect is simply the attention to detail that is lost when the job is done in a short period. It is too easy to just gloss over the details, and the customer doesn’t have time to notice. This can include anything from checking that colors and finishes are accurate, that there is no paint splatter where it shouldn’t be, or if fixtures/furniture have been replaced correctly. Even worse, the companies that work fast require many workers, which means they hire in plenty and with lower standards. And any painter worth his salt knows that it’s not beneficial to brute force through projects. For most residential painting jobs, the ideal team is 2-4 skilled painters; much more than that and they just start getting in eachother’s way, and compromising the quality of the job.

As a homeowner, you should avoid the ‘fast’ companies, and instead focus on those that emphasize quality

Front Doors are a statement in itself. And an important one—it’s about more than just curb appeal.

Fun facts on what the color of your door says about you:

Orange: You’re a social butterfly! Tells guests that you like to entertain, but also that you enjoy a good challenge.

Red: Traditionally, a red door signaled a hospitable home. Today a red door still says, “Welcome!” You try to live their life fully and love to entertain.

Blue: Enjoys peace and value truth. Well grounded and true to themselves.
Gray: An indecisive mix between black and white. You are indecisive and prefer to compromise.

Green: Traditional values, ambitious and strive for personal betterment. Financially stable as green is affiliated with money.

Wood: Natural, generous and down to earth, like this grounded finish. They are kind and sweet and all who enter will feel welcomed.

Black: When you cross a black threshold, you are entering a world of order and control. Simple elegance graces the style within and everything is in its proper place.

White: Just like the clean lines it creates, white doors begin a guest’s journey into simple and organized home decor.

Brown: Those within are warm, reliable and stable. Like the earth. They can keep an even head and are trustworthy.

Yellow: While it ups your curb appeal, a yellow door also says you’re logical while also creative. Positive attitude and may even a morning person!

Turquoise: Craves an emotional balance, have big hopes and dreams and believe that anything is possible. In other words, you’re a romantic dreamer.

Glass: A glass door symbolizes that you too are open minded, friendly and outgoing because you have nothing to hide.

Pink:Needless to say, you’re a hopeless romantic. But, you’re also thoughtful, cheery and generous

Purple: Purple is a risky color because it’s not very common. It says you’re comfortable taking risks, you dream big and may even call yourself a free-spirit, and not burdened by the parameters others may set.

I was recently asked this and thought it is a great topic to share the reason why us experienced painters chose the methods we do:

Roller or sprayer for painting walls in your home?

It's a tough choice. Paint spraying is fast, but only after you conclude with the extensive preparation work. Rolling is slower, but it lays down more of a quality coat than spraying does.If you care only about the quality of the painted surface, you cannot go wrong with rolling on the paint. Without a doubt, you get a thicker paint layer and better color consistency than with spraying. But with so many other factors to consider, such as cost, preparation time, and surface condition, the decision becomes a bit more difficult.
