The house stops me occasionally and I have a flashback to where we started. As I run upstairs to work on a quilt (in my coziest of cozy quilt room, with Netflix and the AC going) I remember the before pictures, the dirt, dust and debris….the aches and pains (and tetanus shots). So to whoever is out there thinking of doing something completely insane…DO IT! And buy good work gloves.

Some before & afters. Demo days were something else! Pack rat nests, full of treasures and…well, lots of poo. Horse hair plaster. Tracks from un known critters and finding the original skeleton keys that work in the doors we could salvage ❤️

Looking back ~ stairs

So when we redid the stair treads we could only afford one oak board per paycheck…you could get 3 steps done at a time, so that’s what we did. Our reward was a once in a lifetime find in one of the steps…a note from the great grandparents inside a Prince Albert can. Grandpa signed when he was 9. The note will be 100 years old next month!

I painted the mouse for fun…cause why not.

Looking back: Trim ~ and unwise choices 😂

Keeping track of trim 😳 and not having the heart to remove the amazing colors from “back in the day”. After sanding down the loose paint I sealed it up with clear paint. *you can buy the base paint for mixing a dark color, it’s clear*

The stairway was where I rigged a ladder and boards to reach the ceiling…it’s also where I had a refresher course on gravity.
