Interior courtyard progress at Mid Century Marvel. Beautiful design by Dingwall Architecture, , and . This is one of the coolest houses I’ve seen in Central Beach. It pays homage to the original structure that was unsalvageable while bringing a fresh take to low slung Florida vernacular. It’s everything it needs to be and nothing more.

I came across an old sketch for Stingaree and it just got me thinking of all the cool projects and great opportunities we’ve had over the last few years. It also reminds me of the importance of the design process. Schematic design, design development, and technical drawings… all important. All building blocks to a great project. The design process truly is a process off refinement and it was fun to see early thoughts for this project.

Wishing everyone a great weekend.

And…

As World Landscape Architecture Month comes to a close, I ask myself… what does this profession mean to me?

I think back to the very beginning… a love for art, nature, and people. Over 20+ years of doing this, the People have been the best part. From design studio, to first jobs, big moves, and building a practice… people have encouraged my talents and pushed me to new milestones.

My wife, Kelly, is the greatest partner and makes me better in every way. My kids bring me immense joy and purpose.

I have learned so much from my bosses: especially from Matthew Hoffman and many others who invested in me. I’ve been able to work with extremely talented young professionals at my own firm and watch them grow. I’ve also partnered with brilliant architects, designers, craftsman’s, and many other allied professionals. These people are so good at what they do… sometimes I feel like I’m just along for the ride.

I am super grateful for our clients, advocates, and everyone who has given us a chance. I look forward to continuing to work on personable projects with the goal of impacting lives through design.

Without the people, our projects would be just empty spaces. With them, there is life.

That’s what means to me.
