Summer's just beginning and it's HOT already!
Today's MANAGE-IT MONDAY tip: Air Conditioner Maintenance

Proper maintenance of an air conditioning unit can help save money on costly repairs. Some routine preventive maintenance can go a long way toward keeping the unit running efficiently. This will not only save on your monthly energy costs, but it will also keep the air conditioning unit working properly for years to come. Maintenance is especially important during the hotter months as the air conditioning system can have to work harder to perform. This can cause spikes in energy consumption and costs and cause the unit to fail to function optimally. Performing periodic maintenance can mean a big difference in the way the unit continues to run and the effect it has on your energy costs. When you keep the unite unit running efficiently you can rest assured that you will not be out extra expenses for repairs, or a replacement model. Here are air conditioning maintenance tips to help keep the unit running properly:

1. Change (or clean) air filters according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

2. Inspect ducts around the air handler. Make sure that holes are sealed so that air does not leak.

3. Keep the pans and coils of dehumidification/humidification units free from debris.

4. Clean the grills regularly to keep debris and dust from clogging filters.

5. Inspect the condensation line to ensure it is able to handle runoff.

6. Trim shrubbery away from an outside unit.

7. Check duct work to ensure that there are no holes that can leak air.

8. The outside condenser unit has to be kept clear of leaves and debris.

9. Call a professional for an annual checkup of the system. (Call us for a list our preferred professionals!)

10. Air conditioning units should be cleaned periodically – but only according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

Hope this helps you "keep your cool" this summer! Thank you to toptentopten.com for these suggestions!

Today's Manage-it Monday Topic: INDOOR MAINTENANCE

I don't know about you, but tackling the list of things that need to be done in a week to keep a clean, organized house is sometimes exhausting! Finally, someone suggested a way to tackle it just ONE day at a time!

Here's a list that is very helpful:
EVERY DAY - Do dishes, laundry, make beds, 10 min. tidy (3x day), shed junk for 10 minutes.
MONDAY - Bathrooms. (Don't forget to empty garbage, wash the floor and check to see if the shower liner needs cleaning.)
TUESDAY - Bedrooms. (Change bedding, wash sheets and organize clothing. Vacuum the floor and clean windows and mirrors.)
WEDNESDAY - Kitchen. (Don't forget to organize the pantry, clean out the refrigerator and wipe down small appliances.)
THURSDAY - Grocery Shopping/Errands. (Plan your meals for a week and write down the supplies you will need. Do you need cleaning supplies, light bulbs, toilet tissue?) Why Thursday? Well, that's when the weekly grocery store ads come out!
FRIDAY - Floors/Dusting. (Vacuum/wash your floors. Pull the couches away from the walls and get behind them. Every second week, vacuum the inside of the couch.)
SATURDAY - Work Outside. (Mow the lawn, shovel the walk, clean the garage, vacuum the car, etc. These are fun jobs the family can do together!)
SUNDAY - Enjoy a day of rest with your family!
