Golf Simulator Basement Addition designed & built by The Heartland Builders.

This was our first golf simulator room, and it came with a lot of new challenges & wins.

The project started with a major excavation to make room for 12-foot-deep poured concrete walls, giving the homeowner enough ceiling height for a proper golf swing.

To keep the space dry for the long haul, we installed a Schedule 40 PVC perimeter drain that routes groundwater to a new sump pit, along with a 3/4 HP primary sump pump and battery backup system.

From there, we insulated the foundation with 2” XPS rigid foam, followed by stud framing and batt insulation to create a comfortable, energy-efficient space.

One of our favorite design decisions happened late in the project. We switched from drywall to wall panels, which provide much better golf ball impact protection while also allowing us to create a completely hidden sump room door that blends seamlessly into the wall.

For the simulator enclosure, we built our own custom impact padding using high-density foam wrapped in faux leather and designed a custom bungee-mounted impact screen to give it a clean, built-in appearance.

As simple as the finished room looks, this project required an incredible amount of planning, math, and coordination to get every detail right.

We’re proud of how it turned out ⛳️

With the 4th of July coming up, we thought this was the perfect place to celebrate. 🇺🇸

This custom outdoor patio and kitchen was designed and built by The Heartland Builders using some of our favorite products and finishes to create a space that’s functional, durable, and built for entertaining.

👉 Swipe to see what went into it.

We wanted the ceiling and feature wall to feel clean, timeless, and low maintenance.

For the walls, we used board & batten detailing with James Hardie Building Products fiber cement panels and batten strips. We carried those same panels onto the ceiling and wrapped the exposed beam to tie everything together. Recessed lights with silver trims were selected to complement the stainless steel grill, and everything was finished with paint from Pittsburgh Paints 🎨

One of the biggest upgrades on this project happened before construction even started.

The original plans called for a 60” sliding door with windows on each side. We re-engineered the opening to fit a 120” black sliding door from Andersen Windows + Doors, creating a much larger opening that floods the space with natural light and makes the indoor and outdoor living areas feel connected ☀️

The fireplace and outdoor kitchen were designed to be the heart of the space.

We built a custom fireplace around an outdoor insert from Fine’s Gas, finished it with stone tile from Floor & Decor, and topped it with custom-cut concrete for a clean, modern look.

To complete the entertainment area, we installed a weatherproof TV from and a built-in Napoleon 700 Series grill from BBQGuys.com, along with an outdoor vent hood to keep the space comfortable while cooking 🍔🌭🌽

To make the patio feel like a true extension of the home, we installed a slip-resistant outdoor tile from Floor & Decor that carries the indoor feel outside.

We also maximized the wall opening to preserve as much of the view as possible, creating a space that’s just as enjoyable for a quiet morning coffee as it is for hosting family and friends.

Complete transformation of this laundry room in Carmel, IN. Our team installed new oak upper cabinets, a modern utility sink, and a matching oak laundry enclosure. Laundry room remodels always require some extra thought to ensure plumbing connections are hidden but accessible, and enclosures are deep & wide enough to feel custom & built-in, while still allowing movement of appliances as needed during operation and maintenance. Go with a pro!

2025 was our team’s strongest year yet, and we were able to work on some amazing residential and commercial projects. With that being said, we did lack on sharing a lot of these moments due to simply being too busy to post. This year, we want to make sure we highlight some of our favorite projects.

Starting with this sweet mudroom/laundry remodel for a client in Carmel, IN. We completely removed an existing cluttered closet with a 9’H floor to ceiling oak pantry cabinet that provided a much cleaner and more efficient storage solution, replaced an exterior door, installed new waterproof vinyl plank flooring, and created a larger laundry room entryway.

Stay tuned to see how we transformed the laundry room 🧺
