"Junque Genius Studio & Marketplace" is a seasonal home decor shop. Owner Denise Bowen paints vintage and antique furniture, refinishes kitchen cabinets and walls with artistic faux effects such as, raised plaster, stenciling, foiling and she collaborates with other design professionals on custom projects for home or commercial spaces. Denise displays repurposed, repainted furniture, art and home décor at her new studio located in the Good's Plumbing building (formerly, Spear's Plumbing) at 524 Oak Street, downtown Irwin, next to the Moose Lodge. Hours are 10-6 daily, closed Sunday.

Happy Halloween from Discover Downtown Irwin !!! Another successful community event thanks to our great execs at the Borough of Irwin. Thank you Katelind, you did a tremendous job. The window decorating contest was spectacular, the Dancing Witches of Westmoreland County were in top form and add so much to our Halloween Town! Out theme at Junque Genius Studio this year was Alice & Wonderland and we were thrilled to win first place! The children’s parade was awesome and the first place family did a complete “Peanuts Halloween Pumpkin Patch” theme. A lot of smiling faces! A super fun time in our hometown!

A few quick looks at the most wonderful evening in Downtown Irwin. Thank you to our sweet hometown for coming out in record numbers on a Tuesday night for the Gig on Main make up concert presented by Kenny Ross. We appreciate the food vendors so much, many of whom sold out! Thank you to all the performers! The Clarks with Rose & Ruin and Parry Adams. And of course, a special thanks to the entire organization team that pulled this off. 🎶

So grateful to our nightbird photographer and friend Beth Yadamec She seems to capture in our most vulnerable state, like no one can. This oversized mirror was salvaged out of a building is Downtown Irwin. I wanted to combine mediums in a layered effect without completely losing its reflective properties. The mulberry paper, “fiber cloth” decoupage is something I’ve been using a lot lately. You may recognize my stencil work from a Greensburg restaurant project some years ago…it was time to use the roses again. Matching the metallic overlay to the frame was a challenge but achieving the ethereal result was worth the blending efforts. The final highlighting of the lady’s collar and buttons using the same blend of metallics was the cherry on top. I hope you can visit to see it in person.

Hey furry friends! We had the best day ever and hope you all did too. Thanks for bringing your people out today to Discover Downtown Irwin for the 5th annual “Lick Or Treat” day. Yummy treats, lots of great new places to sniff and a special opportunity to get a quick photo with your person! Thank you Trinity Lutheran Church for sponsoring this chill event. What a great day! 🐈‍⬛ 🐶 💕

Look what you can do in a one-on-one workshop in our studio! Thank you Cheryl for bringing this sweet vintage toboggan in for an extreme makeover. She had a design in mind and we just facilitated that concept with a fresh coat of “Linen” milkpaint from General Finishes and a texture add-in from Saltwash®️~Just Add Paint followed by decoupage papers by Redesign with Prima®️ and some strategically placed stenciling using Wise Owl Paint Just a light coat of Wise Owl Furniture Salve to refresh the original leather straps and red beads and this lovely piece is ready to decorate her fireplace hearth this holiday season. You can do this too…just believe 😉
