Just a little reminder, if you are prone to freezing well house's or plumbing, let those faucets drizzle. Old man winter has decided to show up with vengeance. πŸ₯ΆπŸŒ¬οΈ

As the daylight hours are getting shorter and we are nearing the end of the year our list of jobs has not gotten shorter!

First of all we at R. Oberlitner Well Drilling and Repair want to thank our customers for being so patient and understanding as you wait for us to get you taken care of. The drought season we have gone through created a lot of work this summer and while the phone calls have slowed down and we are not receiving 10 out of water calls every day we, as well as the other well drillers across Michigan, are still experiencing a very high amount of customers needing new wells. While this is quite common in the height of summer we don't usually experience so many emergent situatuions at this point of the calendar year.

Static water levels have lowered and it seems like the homes that have been able to operate on old systems are no longer able to do so. We always prioritize those out of water or nearly out of water and the problem is there are all too many in this situation at the same time. This week I have even gotten multiple calls from people in Clare County searching well drillers. The situation is far reaching.

So again thank you to our amazing customer base for extending your trust, patience and understanding. It may be good for business and job security but it does give oportunity for a lot of stress for us just trying to get to as many people each day to get through it as quickly as possible.

We all know what is essential but it isn't until you are out or almost completley out when you really appreciate how much you really need it. For those of you operating on old obsolete water well systems you might consider putting some money away and upgrading the system before you find yourself forced to. I know it isn't a fun way to spend money but, it is a lot easier to plan for the future and be out of water for an afternoon during the hookup process vs. finding yourself in an emergency situation and being out of water or nearly out of water limping it along for much much longer.

As we celebrate 18 years of Gerrit taking over R. Oberlitner Well Drilling and Repair we are in need of hiring more crew that will continue on our reputation.

Experience is helpful but not 100% necessary with the right person. Applicants should:

Be physically fit enough to crawl into tight spaces when necessary and jump into and out of pits and trenches while handling a shovel.

Mechanically inclined....knowing "righty tighty lefty loosey" is a great start.

Enjoy doing a variety of task and learning a variety of skills related to water needs and the ground water industry. There are seasons of repeat. We are currently in a season of dropping pumps deeper into wells and converting from shallow well systems to deep well seasons. In the winter there will be seasons of thawing out frozen pumps. But at least every day it's a new location and new people.

Be able to and enjoy conversing with customers and possibly, on occasion, handle a difficult person. We strive to be a purpose driven company and not just a means to a paycheck. Employees are required to communicate both in person and on the phone with customers. A pleasant demeanor will take you far in life and put people at ease in a stressful situation. Everyday we encounter people that are facing battles we know nothing about beyond water emergencies. We want our company to be a bright spot in our customers day.

Employees are paid weekly by direct deposit.

Starting pay is determined by starting skill set. Increase in pay comes with increase in skill and drive.

Bonuses paid for working Saturdays and other reasons.

Lunch is provided most days. Some days it's an amazing made with love homemade meal, some days it's a sandwich or fast food (still served with love or bought with love)

If you are interested or know anybody that is a good fit send them our way. Give us a call 989-838-2235.

Don't forget to let those faucets trickle before they fizzle tonight. If you have had freezing problems in the past, this is your friendly reminder 😊

Pulled a pump today that was installed in 1971. They don't make em like they used to. Still worked good but the well needed a clean out, My self along with the customer decided it was time to replace after pumping almost 4 million gallons of water in its life. Pretty impressive.
