The friendship came first. The job came later. And somewhere along the way, Dave became part of the Aspen family.

This year, Dave Ossowski officially celebrates 35 years of full-time employment with Aspen, though the real number is a little hard to pin down. He spent years helping out part-time before coming on full-time, so we’ll just call it 35-ish and then some. 😉

However you count it, Dave has been a huge part of Aspen’s story. We’re grateful for his hard work, loyalty, friendship, and all the ways he’s helped Aspen grow over the years.

Congratulations on 35 years, Dave! Aspen wouldn’t be the same without you.

We’re proud to share that Aspen Tree Expert Co. is featured in the May issue of TCI Magazine as we celebrate 50 years in business!

The article highlights our family history, our long-standing connection to the tree care industry, and our dual accreditation through TCIA, which continues to mean a great deal to our company and the standards we work hard to uphold.

Thank you to TCI Magazine for recognizing our dual accreditation and helping us mark this milestone year for our family-owned company. Tree Care Industry Association

Unfortunately, tree topping is still common enough that we continue to see it on properties throughout the area.

It may be done to reduce height, clear space, or make a tree seem safer, but topping often creates more problems than it solves. Large, improper cuts can lead to weak regrowth, decay, poor structure, and ongoing maintenance concerns.

Proper pruning should be selective, intentional, and based on the tree’s species, condition, structure, and location.

Proper tree pruning supports structure, safety, and long-term value. Learn why tree topping can cause lasting damage and what property owners should know.

Congratulations to our girl Ava Ossowski on earning her Master of Healthcare Administration from Seton Hall University!

It's bittersweet because she'll be heading off to join the Disney College Program soon, but lucky for us, we still have a few more months with her.

Ava, we can't wait to see all of the great things you accomplish. All the love in the world from your Aspen family. 🩵💙

It’s not often that everyone in the company gets together, so when it happens, we’ve got to show up and show out!

Thank you to everyone who made yesterday’s training day such a great one. The day included:

• "Aerial Lift Safety Inspections and Maintenance" with Tom Boehm of Custom Truck One Source
• "Getting into the Swing of Spring: Top Insects and Diseases" with Jake Swanson of Ahlum & Arbor Tree Preservation
• "Developing and Following a 5-Step Felling Plan" plus "Working and Training with Multiple Generations" with our long-time friend Todd Kramer of Kramer Tree Specialists, Inc.
• Catered lunch from Bubbakoo's Burritos (shout out to Zack Malecki)
• 50th anniversary shirts from Arborwear
• "Tree Biology and the Science of Cells" plus "How Trees Grow and Compartmentalize" with Chris Ahlum of Ahlum & Arbor Tree Preservation
• "How to Outperform the Market with Advanced Strategies Made Easy" with the one and only Anthony Canderozzi, Financial Planner of Creative Financial Group. Anthony also graciously brought in Salty Sailor Coffee of Manahawkin to make sure everyone was caffeinated and ready to talk money.

It was a full day of learning, catching up, asking good questions, busting chops, and spending time together as one team. Thank you again to everyone who helped make it happen, especially those who traveled to be here with us.

We’re seeing a lot of frost damage in the area right now and getting plenty of calls from customers asking why their trees and shrubs are suddenly not looking so good.

If you’ve noticed browned new growth, flowers that never opened, uneven leaf-out, or plants that seem stalled out after budding, there is a good chance the late frost had something to do with it.

Our latest blog post breaks down what a late frost can do to buds, blooms, and tender new growth, and why some trees and shrubs may recover while others may not flower this year.

Read more here:

Late frost after warm spring weather can damage buds, blooms, and new growth on trees and shrubs. Learn what to look for and when to be concerned.
