Why will my garage door not go down or comes right back up after only going down a little?

Your Garage Door Isn’t Broken… It Might Just Be Your Rake!
We got a call recently from a customer in the Jacksonville Beach, Florida area who was convinced their garage door had gone on strike! 😄 After a quick inspection, we found the real culprit -a rake leaning against the wall was blocking the safety eyes! Once we showed that rake the door (literally), everything worked perfectly.
Yep, a rake was the criminal. Case closed.
👀 Safety eyes can be blocked by:
-Rakes that think they own the place
-Leaves and dirt blown in from outside
-Boxes that have “temporarily” lived by the door for 3 years
-Random debris that somehow multiplies on the garage floor

-Take 2 minutes and do this right now:
-Round up any yard tools loitering around the sides of your door
-Sweep the area around both safety eyes
-Do a quick visual check every now and then — your door will thank you!
A little tidying up can save you a service call… and the embarrassment of telling your technician a rake beat you. ☺️
