Spotlight on Owner Chrissy Herzig:
Chrissy’s journey into construction began in the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Andrew. Witnessing families struggle to recover while some contractors took advantage of vulnerable homeowners left a lasting impression. Rather than stand by, she gathered friends and began helping with roof repairs, debris removal, and rebuilding efforts. Those early experiences showed her the critical role ethical, community-focused construction plays in helping families recover and rebuild their lives.

Years later, after wildfires impacted the community of Rancho Bernardo, Chrissy again stepped forward to help neighbors. Recognizing that many residents (particularly seniors & single moms) were overwhelmed by cleanup needs, she donated her time to give free power washing services for homes and driveways affected by ash and soot in her neighborhood. Her efforts were recognized by Lavender Lens Magazine and reinforced her belief that construction and home services should improve lives, not simply generate profits.

Today, that same philosophy guides Herzig Cabinets & Remodeling in Jacksonville, FL. While many projects involve kitchen and bathroom remodeling, the deeper mission is helping homeowners age in place safely and comfortably. Through accessible design, barrier-free showers, improved layouts, and thoughtful modifications, the company helps seniors remain independent in the homes and communities they love.

HCR was the BEST to work with on our living room remodel project (demo’d old carpet, baseboards and popcorn ceiling, and updated with tile floor, new baseboards and smooth ceiling)! Efficient, communicative, considerate, and the quality of work exceeded our expectations. Any nightmare stories you hear about house projects were completely nonexistent with HCR — the entire process was smooth and stress-free from start to finish, HCR thinks of everything! We are so happy with the results and can’t wait for our next project. We’ll definitely be calling HCR again — so lucky to have found them!
