🌧️ Ever walked outside and noticed a weird gray, black, orange, or even yellow “slimy” looking patch covering your grass?
Good news — it’s likely slime mold, and while it looks alarming, it’s usually more ugly than harmful! 👀🍄

Slime mold commonly appears during periods of warm temperatures, high humidity, excessive rain, overwatering, or heavy morning dew. It feeds on organic matter living on the surface of your lawn — NOT the grass itself. You’ll often see it show up after long stretches of wet weather when airflow is limited and the lawn stays damp for extended periods.

✨ HOW TO PREVENT IT:
• Avoid overwatering your lawn
• Improve drainage in low wet spots
• Mow regularly to increase airflow
• Reduce excess thatch and organic buildup
• Water early in the morning so grass dries throughout the day

🛠️ HOW TO TREAT IT:
The easiest “treatment” is often simply waiting — slime mold usually dries up and disappears on its own within a few days once conditions improve. You can also:
• Spray it off with a garden hose
• Rake or brush affected areas to break it apart
• Mow the lawn to help remove spores
• Improve sunlight and airflow around the area

🚫 Fungicides are typically NOT necessary since slime mold doesn’t actually infect or kill your grass.

Bottom line:
Your lawn may look like it starred in a sci-fi movie for a few days 👽…but slime mold is mostly just a sign that Mother Nature has given us a little too much moisture lately. 💚
