Summary: The press operator monitors the molding and trimming process of rubber mats from start to finish while complying with all safety, quality, quantity, and housekeeping standards. In addition, report material shortages to lead staff and troubleshoots equipment problems.
Primary Duties:
Operate press/molding machine in a safe manner
Pulling mats off of conveyor onto pallets
Uses utility knife to trim excess rubber off mats
Monitors molding process and removes finished mats from mold
Provides daily production reports to lead person to ensure accurate inventory records are maintained
Troubleshoots problems and report shortages of material through lead person
Maintains excellent constructive communication between shifts through use of a daily log
Keeps manufacturing area clean at all times
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to do repetitive hand motions constantly
Must be able to hold, grasp, and punch with hands at all times
Must be able to bend, squat, and twist body frequently
Must be able to reach above waist height frequently
Must be able to stand entire shift
Must be able to pull mats with force that weigh 100 lbs. on a frequent basis
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a frequent basis
Must be able to lift 100 lbs. with assistance on an occasional basis
Work environment: while performing duties of this job, employees will be exposed to regularly high heat, rubber particles, rubber dust, sulfur, fragrance oil, and latex. Noise level is high. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that the employee encounters performing essential functions of this job.
Qualifications:
GED or High School Diploma
Basic reading and writing skills
Basic math and problem-solving skills
1+ year experience in manufacturing preferred
