One of the most common questions we get asked this time of year is, “Is it too late in the year to plant a tree?”And our answer? ABSOLUTELY NOT! 🙌
Those wonderful “BER” months aren’t just for pumpkin spice, cozy sweaters, and bonfires. They’re also PRIME TIME to get those trees in the ground!
🌳 Here’s why your trees LOVE fall planting:
🍂 COOLER TEMPERATURES: Less heat means less stress on newly planted trees! They can focus on getting established instead of battling the scorching summer sun.
🌱 ROOT DEVELOPMENT: While everything above ground may look like it’s slowing down, there’s still work happening below the surface! As long as soil temperatures are favorable, roots can continue growing and establishing themselves.
💧 BETTER MOISTURE CONDITIONS: Cooler weather reduces moisture loss, and seasonal rainfall can help keep the soil hydrated. Just remember, newly planted trees still need watering!
🌳 A HEAD START ON SPRING: Planting in the fall gives your tree an opportunity to develop its root system before spring arrives. That means a stronger start when growing season rolls around!
☀️ LESS TRANSPLANT SHOCK: With less demand for new leaves and above-ground growth, many trees can direct more energy toward establishing their roots.
