One of the last projects of 2024 and this one was a challenge. Thankfully I worked with a couple of great clients on this one.
I removed an old patio only to find a whole concrete slab underneath the old patio. This added a considerable amount of work and time not to mention extra budget to this project.
The clients here had a clear vision on wanting drainage issues taken care of. There had been significant pooling of water before this with no drains so I added two dry pit drains.
The large format bluestone pavers and then red cedar fence and retaining wall. With a garden area for the clients to be able to plant up this season.
It was a really enjoyable project to work on and thank you for a the gatoraids!!

This was a backyard redo from last summer, it was incredibly hot while working on this project and the water bottles chilled in ice and fruit and cereal bars provided every day was so much appreciated on this one!

The clients wanted no maintenance as they had a little baby and busy jobs, but still a space they could sit in and enjoy.

A little perennial planting, some decorative gravel, a bluestone patio and a red cedar fence did the trick.

This was an enjoyable yard to work on and hopefully one the clients will enjoy for years to come.

This background makeover was for some great clients who wanted to break up the old concrete in their yard, replace it with bluestone paving, add an outdoor kitchen and redo the planters and planting, the fence and storage area.

The combination of bluestone, IPE and granite is what makes this one of my favorite renovations I have completed to date.

This was a little redesign for a backyard space. I added a pergola that matched the existing vinyl fencing to add a nice seating element.
Then widened the existing beds and added a nice mix of flowering perennials and shrubs. Sometimes a little change can make a big difference.

This was a fun project I did in the beginning of 2024 in collaboration with my friends and artificial grass suppliers at TechGrass. We installed a new fence, planters, outside sauna, outdoor shed, pergola and a seating bench with build in storage and side tables…

My first spring project of 2024.

This was a really enjoyable project for a young couple of new homeowners who wanted to be able to enjoy their backyard space more.

The clients were also interested in plants and helping to add some more biodiversity to their space and to create more habitat for wildlife, especially bees, birds and butterflies.

I came up with a plan that relied heavily on flowering native perennials that can tolerate the conditions we had. Some areas were shady, some got lots of light, planting around trees etc.

The other issue these clients were dealing with and is becoming more and more of an issue is water run off and flash flooding during larger rain events. With that in mind I also incorporated a large dry pit drain under the decorative gravel. This along with the added planting, fresh soil and the more permeable gravel path all help with water management on this yard.

Lastly, the clients wanted a nice wooden seated bench where they would sit or lay and enjoy their fire-pit and entertain.

This turned into a very peaceful space that I was sad to be leaving on completion.

This recent Bayonne yard needed some revamping. The levels needed to be changed and fresh soil brought in so we could lay down the fresh turf. We also added some decorative gravel with a w**d barrier to clean up around the side and back of the property. Fall is the perfect time for lawn renovations like laying down turf or seed.

These Brooklyn clients wanted a low fence and gate to separate the downstairs tenants area, while not blocking out too much light.
They also wanted to go with the low maintenance option of artificial grass, it made more sense for them as they have a dog and dogs can be hard on grass especially in small areas.
We installed this lattice fence and artificial grass for them.

This was a Brooklyn backyard that needed a little facelift.
We removed the old artificial grass, and wooden stage that was home to a family of rats. 🐀
Next we added a retaining wall with steps and a wooden garden edge. This would allow us to create the correct base for the brand new modern artificial grass.
We also added a decorative gravel walkway, a contained area for grilling and lastly mulched up the beds on the sides for the clients to plant up at a later date.

Another Jersey City backyard makeover. The property owner had a dog who loved to dog in the yard, and had put down real grass a few times only to have it ruined. Artificial grass is a great option for anyone with pets, also low maintenance is green all year around and no muddy paws or feet in the house! We also added a bluestone patio as a great option for seating out with a fire pit and we updated the garden edging to help raise the beds and level out the yard.

This was a front yard and back yard that needed some care and a refresh. The front had some shrubs that at one point had been very large then cut down to the roots by the previous owner and had started to sprout from the ground again. We removed the large roots, the old irrigation system and tilled the soil. Added fresh soil and then sod and mulch the results speak for themselves. In the back there was a really ugly slope that actually was a shred space with neighbors that was just w**ds and uneven soil. Working on a budget we just added a w**d barrier and some decorative stone to clean everything up and keep it low maintenance for now.
