After a card or other credential is approved, the controller monitors the passage using infrared sensors. Sensor activity is tracked as the person moves through the lane, and the final sensor pair can be used to confirm that the person has actually completed the passage.

Only after verified movement is detected is the passage event communicated to the host access control software.
