Berberis thunbergii "Golden Rocket"
"GOLDEN ROCKET" Japanese Barberry

These hearty Barberries are quickly earning their keep while also becoming one of our new favorites. The photos are of the five shrubs we planted as a buffer between the sunroom and walkway. They are a mostly vertical growing shrub that works great in a narrow bed. This particular variety displays coral colored branches with chartreuse leaves from early spring until fall when it then transforms into a multi-colored prism of leaves. In winter, they bare only their fruit, a brilliant red berry that attracts birds, people, and conversations. We highly recommend placing this shrub in a well-traveled area to show off its seasonal interest. It is deer resistant and can grow up to 4-5' tall while only 2-3' wide making it perfect for barriers and low walls.

I have rendered many Master Plans for presentations, maps, and fundraising. But, never for myself. This is my first digital watercolor with Adobe (well, the first one worth sharing, lol).

What a beautiful mix of textures and color. Here is some Creeping Phlox against a mature Gold Mop Cypress bedded in river rock. I’m thinking it will make a great seasonal screensaver, brighten up your phone and your day! Feel free to use it, AND SHARE IT!

This is the first year for our Brisbane Tulips, their bright sherbet colors create such a dramatic contrast against the grey rock and black mulch. They are stunning!
