π©βπΎπππͺ»I've had AGS for about 3 years & am vigilant about avoiding anything that might trigger an allergic reaction. This has created many changes in my diet, shampoos, skincare, and LOTS of label reading. π§ I've even asked fast food chains "are you using tallow" for those fries? π ~ has its hazards, and this one is now gaining National attention due to how many people now have AGS β

TEXT from image:
If you have Alpha-Gal Syndrome, you must avoid all tallow products. Tallow is rendered animal fat (usually from cows or sheep) and contains the alpha-gal carbohydrate. This applies both to eating foods cooked in tallow and to using it in skincare, soaps, or cosmetics, as it can cause serious allergic reactions.
Why Tallow is Dangerous for AGS
Alpha-gal syndrome is a tick-borne allergy that creates an immune response to a sugar molecule found in most mammals. Because tallow is derived directly from mammals, it contains high amounts of the allergen. It is not safe to consume, nor is it safe to apply to your skin, as transdermal exposure can trigger severe reactions, including hives, swelling, or anaphylaxis.
