Join us this Friday for our annual ladies night, making hanging baskets that’ll last all summer long! $60 per person gets you a basket and flowers to fill. Starts at 630pm! Meet John Greenwood Jr.! He grew up in Sweet Home and St. Helens, but knew Grant County was where he wanted to be. After years of spending summers here with both his and his wife Nicole’s families, he finally made the move in January 2025- and officially joined the store on his birthday, June 10th.

He and his wife are raising their 16 year old Gunner, right here in the community they’ve always loved.

When he’s off the clock, you’ll likely find him in the woods, riding ATV’s, hunting and fishing.

We love John’s willingness to tackle any task that comes his way. Come in and say hi next time you visit us!

Meet Andy!

Born and raised in Milll City Oregon, Andy and his wife Marcia moved the Grant County in 2018 to be closer to his father’s roots. Andy has been a loyal customer and friend of John Day Hardware for a while when timing and opportunity lined up, he officially joined our team back in May, and has quickly become a great resource. So far, he’s loving the camaraderie and positive energy at the store.

When he’s off the clock, you’ll probably find Andy with a woodworking project or playing his kazoo in the park.

Meet Lexie AKA The Cookie Lady!

She and her husband Norm moved here from California in 2016, finally getting to live their dream of country life. Both retired, they quickly became familiar faces in the store- shopping at least three times a week!

In October 2021, after Jake mentioned we needed an extra hand, Lexie interviewed and officially joined our team. Since then, she’s been keeping us organized with inventory and freight (though we don’t let her near a ladder… for good reason). You can usually tell she’s around by the sound of her flip flops echoing down the aisles!

When she’s not helping in the store, Lexie is known for baking up delicious cookies. Around here, she and Norm- better known as “GG and Spanky”- have become like family, our beloved token grandparents.

Emily was born and raised right here in Prairie City, and she’s been part of our store family since 2017. Born deaf, she first joined us by working short shifts to see if the doorbells and radios would be manageable. It didn’t take long for Jim and Jake to recognize her dedication and positive spirit, and soon she was officially on the schedule.

Fast forward to this past June, and Emily stepped into her new role as Store Manager! She loves the family feel of our store, the way everyone stays connected, and she’s proud to call this county home for life.

We’re so grateful to have Emily leading our team—next time you’re in, be sure to say hi!

We had a great weekend at the Hardware Show. The Do It Best Coop is now 9000 members strong and growing. Two full days of shopping new products , learning more product info and finding ways to stay stocked and competitive. And always making time to have a little fun.

Meet Lucinda!

Lucinda grew up right here in Grant County, and her family has been lifelong friends with the Bellingers. She joined our team back in 2013 at just 16 years old, quickly proving herself as a hard worker with a natural talent for the business side of things. We told her a position would be waiting as soon as she returned from school.

After earning her degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from EOU, Lucinda returned in 2019 as our Office Manager. In 2020, she married her husband Daniel, and together they have a sweet daughter, Etta (1).

We’re so grateful to have Lucinda leading our team with dedication, heart, and hometown pride.
