Being used to working with his hands, he decided to attend SUNY Delhi where he earned an Associate of Science degree with a major in Carpentry and minor in Masonry. Upon graduating, Tom worked in the Carpenters Union Local 277 for 5 years where he became a Journeyman Carpenter and eventually went on to be a Foreman working for W.L. During his time in the union, he worked on a variety of residentia
l and commercial projects with a focus in historical restoration in places such as Downtown Binghamton and Cornell University. With an interest in the design aspect of construction and a desire to learn, Tom decided to go back to school for Civil Engineering. He received an Associates of Science degree from SUNY Broome in Engineering Sciences and went on to study at Cornell University. During his time at Cornell, he was also able to study abroad for a semester at Denmark Technical University and see some of the most renowned architecture in the world. While going back to school he interned with Lakeside Engineering in order to get a feel for the career field before he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. After graduating Tom joined Major Engineering full time where he worked on a variety of projects including, wood framing design, reinforced concrete foundation design, civil engineering, architectural design, forensic engineering, aerial mapping, and 3D modeling. Now, Tom focuses on his own practice, Yarrington Solutions, where he focuses on Engineering, Architecture, 3D Modelling, Aerial Mapping/Photography, and 3D Capture Services. Tom is also a proud Airman in the U.S. Air Force National Guard where he is an Engineering Assistant and works on projects included architectural design, surveying, GIS, and airstrip maintenance. With his construction background, he brings a pragmatic approach to engineering and looks forward to accelerating in the career field.
