✨Fun fact✨ I don't use black!

In Nikki's portrait, what looks like black is actually a combination of a deep navy blue called Payne's Gray and dark brown called Raw Umber. It's a combination that, to me, feels fuller and looks more natural in the makeup of our fuzzy buddies.

BONUS FACT: While plenty of artists use glass or acrylic palettes for easy cleanup, I use palette paper.

So when I send off my paintings to their new homes, I get to keep something of them as a reminder of the struggles and discoveries I made in the process of painting them. ♥

It's a diary or map of sorts. And it's especially helpful when I realize a mixed color from a previous painting would be perfect for a new one, because it helps me retrace my steps to making it again.

Princess Nikki has made it to her castle safely, so now I get to share with you all without spoiling the surprise 😊 Happy birthday to my Mamaw!

I definitely had a time with all those little nooks and crannies (and technically I had sworn them off entirely), but nothing less would do! And I am just so pleased with how the Iridescent Bronze came out for the ornamental frame. Often times, iridescent mediums and paints will look lovely from one direction and completely dingy from another, but this was perfectly metallic from all angles. 10/10 would recommend lol
