Regenerative Retrofits is getting excited in preperation to teach an online Greenhouse Design Workshop. It is being taught through one of my favorite schools, right here in
Vermont. Yestermorrow Design/Build School has been a catalyst in pushing me to achieve some big goals in my life. From designing and building my first home. Learning to shape and build with stone with Thea Alvin and getting my hands involved in a Timber Frame build last year. It's been a wonderful resource to have locally.
Teaching this course was something I aspired to do from the moment I stepped foot on the campus 5years ago. With the knowledge gained over the past few years and the community I've been building in this mighty little state. 2025 is the perfect year to be doing it, and I am excited to share it with those interested.

At Regenerative Retrofits we are learning the desire for humans to reconnect with the natural world, is growing stronger than ever. Some of the ways people have been doing this with our help is designing and creating outdoor showering spaces. Leaning in closer to the Earth can sometimes be dirty, filled with fun and with the need to wash off under the stars. Surrounded by trees and open air, birds flying overhead and the occasional chipmunk in awe of the beauty. Humans are embracing the ways of living a life of luxury and living a life of love for living, a life with Earth and not against it.

Here are a couple of the outdoor showers we've built this year. Both using mostly repurposed materials that were laying around, materials found onsite that took no added carbon of transportation or manufacturing and processing. Water from the site, giving back to the site. Water not pumped out of the area to water treatment plants full of chemicals that need filtering before use again. This water is used and filtered by the perennial ecosystem. One that holds the connection to the experience that comes when you bare it all to embracing the outdoors. Get Outside, Shower Naked!

Welcoming anyone and all whom might be or have been interested in a passive solar, geo-thermal, Earthship inspired, underground home, greenhouse or sauna!!! This is more of a build party as its meant to be an experience of fun and learning alongside expanding your brain & muscle mass and gaining knowledge. All levels of physical abilities welcomed and encouraged to join.

The site is located on a beautiful 100acre property with fruit trees, berry bushes and a chicken supervised garden area, a permaculture oasis...did I mention there is a large pond to swim amongst Koi Fish in! Camping available in the orchard over the course of the two nights, three days. Water & Cold Bevys, Farmstand Snacks and Dinner one night will be offered. For all those who are willing to make the trip out to help even for just a few hours one day.

Building Time Frame - 8am-6pm Daily

At Regenerative Retrofits we like to highlight people and companies, with ideas and designs, all the incredible things. Scott and Crystal Van Gaasbeck from Under the Tree Farms have retrofitted a barn on their property to build an underground greenhouse. This is a spectacular way of designing a year-round growing environment in almost any climate.

Using many materials onsite, to passive solar construction techniques and growing an abundance of delicious foods. A true staple in natural building and working with the Earth to provide food security with little effort after the initial building.

Creating a place for year-round food to be grown, seeds to be started and overall, just a wonderful place to spend time in the colder month especially.

Welcoming in the Chinese New Year with some design work sharing. This was a permaculture edge design at a Boys N Girls Club in New Hampshire. Working the property in a way to plant native nut trees, fruit trees and bushes. Creating an organic edible hedge and wind break, both for human and wild animal consumptions.

I am welcoming in some new clients, who are interested in starting a long-term relationship with their site/land and the Earth. Rebuilding soil health, starting pollinator gardens, planting food forests and creating community health.

This is the perfect time of the year to start observing the land, dreaming in the future of your space and thinking about the next steps. Whether you'd like to hire someone to help in creating a permaculture oasis or planning on your own. The light is getting longer in the day and spring will be here before we know it. Time to take action, and start providing yourself a good life with food security in mind living off the land.

Today Marks The Day, Of A Truely Monumental Shift In My Life.

Really happy to be sharing my first printed article, highlighting my recent Greenhouse build in Vermont. Very lucky to have it be listed online for viewing too, for those not able to pick up a copy locally. I am feeling incredibly grateful and honored to be showcased on the cover of a publishing I've been following for years. Next to truly inspiring companies doing some amazing sustainable building.

I've been working toward this for a long time. Studying, volunteering, helping homeowner builders and communities across the world. All while learning all different building techniques. Now I am using that knowledge here at home, helping to teaching others. Bringing the ways of growing food locally in harsh environments for our health and resiliency as humans, for protection of our Earth.

This project has come to an end for Regenerative Retrofits. We have packed our bags, taken the last bit of documentation and hit the road. Incredibly grateful for the past couple of years working on and off from this project. This project is an experimental year-round Hybrid Earthship Inspired Greenhouse. With blueprints scribed out on a napkin and a wild crew stitched together to get the foundation and shell built. This project has far exceeded the initial vision that was dreamt up by the landowner and our company. From wanting to extend the growing season and provide a larger area for early season starts. We added Geo-Thermal tubes for climate control, a wood fire stove and tiny nest for overnight guest. As well, a complete oasis of a spot to hangout in, when hands aren't deeply enriched in the soil.

Truly been such an exciting feeling, finishing the year of 2023 off with this Earthern Greenhouse in the books. Did I mention it's still producing Peppers, Tomatoes, Figs, Celery, Broccoli, Cabbage, Kale, Cauliflower, Lavender, Rosemary and a verity of flowers in January, in Vermont! I think we are on to something here; the next one I am hoping to be growing citrus fruits and have a hydroponic fishpond. Fall Colors have been in full swing in Vermont and this Earthern Greenhouse is looking wonderful and tucking in for the colder months.

We have an abundance of food growing inside from Peppers and Tomatoes, Squash and Basil, Husk Cherries and Rosemary, Cucumbers, Cabbage , Broccoli, Onions, Celery, Strawberries, Limes and Fig Trees! Along with a bunch of flowers to brighten the space and bring those beautiful fall colors from outside to inside.

This is a Four Season Growing Oasis, needless to say it's holding up to its name. This previous season we pick our last bell pepper in January and this year we are pulling a huge harvest of Figs. We are hopeful the Limes will produce matured fruit this year. As well with the first frost potential coming this week. We have no fear about losing any of our tomatoes plants.
