START DATE: 12/2/24
COMPENSATION: $18.00 per hour for the first 90 days, followed by a piece rate thereafter
JOB SUMMARY FOR GARAGE DOOR SERVICE TECHNICIAN
We are seeking a skilled and reliable person to train and become part of our team. The ideal candidate will gain experience in installing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial garage doors and openers (and is willing to be trained). The Garage Door Service Technician position will learn to work independently as part of a team to provide high-quality service to our customers, ensuring their safety and satisfaction. This position is temporary to start, but can become full time for the right person.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation: Install new garage doors, openers, and related hardware for residential and commercial clients. Ensure all components are functioning correctly and meet safety standards.
Repair and Maintenance: Diagnose and repair issues with garage doors and openers, including broken springs, cables, tracks, and other hardware. Perform routine maintenance to extend the life of the equipment.
Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients, answering their questions, and providing recommendations for repairs or replacements.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company and industry safety standards and procedures during installations and repairs to prevent accidents or injuries.
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of parts and equipment used on the job. Report low stock levels to ensure timely replenishment.
Documentation: Complete and submit work orders, invoices, and other necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with owner to ensure efficient and timely service delivery.
Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues related to garage door systems. Utilize problem-solving skills to provide effective solutions.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest industry trends, products, and best practices. Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong mechanical and technical skills, which will provide the ability to diagnose and repair various garage door systems.
Familiarity with hand and power tools to be used in garage door installation and repair.
Knowledge of standard safety regulations and best practices in construction is a plus.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 100 lbs) and work in various weather conditions.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be willing to work in different environments, including residential homes, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings.
Some weekend or evening work may be required, depending on customer needs.
Must be willing to travel some longer distances for various job sites.
