This chimney needs to have the 9’ x3’ x 5” cement slab and stone pillars removed, and the chimney tuck pointed and new crown poured. Here is the chimney and what we need to do to get to it. The top of the chimney is approximately 60’ from the ground.

This chimney needed to have the cement crown removed replaced and the chimney tuck pointed because the crown had several cracks and was letting water infiltrate the structure causing damage. We had to get a little creative with the scaffolding to reach the chimney. Picture on the right is with the finished crown and tuck pointing

Avalon was called out because, when the customer was having their furnace and AC checked out, they were told they had a problem with the draft and the chimney may be blocked. After inspection we found some nesting and removed it, but the draft was still weak. So, the next step was to check the venting in the attic. After further investigation this is what we found the entire vent pipe, from the attic floor up through the roof was rotted out and posed a very serious CO hazard. See next post of repairs made.

This is a cinder block chimney crumbling from within it is an unsafe structure that can allow carbon monoxide to pe*****te the homes interior putting the homeowner in harms way. We tore this chimney down to just below the roof, then rebuilt it with brick, put on a new crown and a 316 TI stainless steel liner to vent the furnace and hot water heater safely.
