These incredible shades were installed for my clients on Saturday! 18ft of privacy, sun control, and protection from mosquitos at the touch of a button…but you don’t have to openings this tall to take advantage of these gorgeous shades. Let me know if you’d like a quote for your patio!

Because these drapery panels are so heavy (45 lbs. of fabric per side!), they are plugged into an outlet on the left side behind the draperies. A battery powered motor would just not be strong enough. They are so simple to operate, though! A press of the button and they draw open or close, and they can be stopped anywhere in between by pressing a button again.

We will be letting them "fall" for a few days, and then will go back and steam the wrinkles out. It's best to wait a few days to let them "fall" -- if they are steamed too soon, they will stretch and puddle on the floor, and that is NOT the look we are going for!

So today we installed motorized draperies in the living room and stationary panels in the breakfast area! I've included a couple of photos of the installers working so you can truly appreciate the scope of this project! My client is absolutely in love with the way everything is coming together in her new home, and that just thrills me!

Busy, busy, busy 🐝🐝🐝!!! 😁

Check out the fresh new blinds and shade we installed this week! Because the client uses the backdoor multiple times a day (the kids like to play outside!), we went with a soft honeycomb shade for the back door -- it will not rattle with each open and close of the door the way a traditional blind might. And it can be raised to reveal the view when desired.

Note the large window to the right of the backdoor -- we installed two blinds with a common valance across the top to tie it all together. It's not possible to do windows this large with a single blind because the blind is just too heavy, will be difficult to lift if needed, and over time the inner mechanisms are at risk of failure. We pay attention to the little details, too: note the tilt wands are on the outside edges (left blind wand on the left side, right blind wand on the right side) so there's no distracting tilt wand hanging down the center of the window.

Beautiful roller shades for a beach house on the west end of Galveston, near San Luis Pass! The Finishing Touch provided truly customized shades, not only in the fabric selection and perfect fit for each window size, but our customer selected cordless shades for the windows in the foyer and blue bedroom, a corded shade in the laundry room to make raising and lower easier reaching across the counter and washing machine, and motorized for three blinds behind a headboard in the other bedroom.

I like to fine-tune each of our window treatments to provide the best look and the best operation at the best price. There's no need to spend extra money motorizing ALL the shades unless you want/need all the shades to be motorized. I won't pressure clients to buy more than they want or need. That usually means my clients are very happy at the end of the day with the project we design together. 💙

Check out these Palladian shelves and gorgeous roller shades we installed for a client!

When you have a window with a full arch, installing a regular blind is no problem because the brackets are on the ends and can be attached to the sheetrock. However, there are certain window treatments where the brackets clip onto the TOP of the treatment.

ENTER THE PALLADIAN SHELF.

We installed Palladian shelves at the bottom of each arch, and then installed the shade brackets to the bottoms of the shelves. This allows any treatment to be installed in a window like this without having to attach brackets to the window itself (never a good idea).

Our client loved the way these shades turned out and so do we!

We were honored to be chosen to provide lovely 2" blinds for the parlor of Columbia Methodist Church in West Columbia this past spring! The day I measured the windows, this room was a "hot mess" -- some hardworking ladies were painting the walls and hadn't even bothered with drop cloths because the (very) old carpet was being replaced. Look at the gorgeous work they did in making this a peaceful place for any need their congregation may have!
